Typ Recruitment, stylized as {typ_, had the energy of a misfit collective, but the identity told a far safer story. Behind the company lived curiosity, experimentation, grit, and a very particular kind of humor. None of it reached the surface.

The new identity brings that internal culture forward. Built for people who explore before they read, the system filters through behavior rather than brand language.

At the center sits the {typ_ logo, a small manifesto reflecting the idea that identity is never finished, but always shaped by context and iteration.

Instead of a traditional corporate website, we designed a layered desktop-like environment with terminal interactions, overlapping windows, hidden details, and subtle narrative clues. The visual language draws from tech culture and open-source systems, modular, exploratory, and intentionally imperfect.

Htag is a professional magazine published by Références (Groupe Rossel) for the French-speaking Belgian HR community. The design brief called for an editorial identity that would break with the conservative conventions of B2B publishing – using B2C visual codes to produce something genuinely engaging while remaining credible in a professional context.

The typographic system is built around three families that each occupy a distinct register. Right Grotesk drives the display layer: Compact Dark handles the largest headline sizes, while Compact Bold appears in pull quotes, all-caps section headers, and colour-block infographics. Compact Light is used for quotation marks and pagination. The Narrow cuts – Light for bylines and section labels, Bold for feature section titles – introduce optical contrast within the same family and sustain rhythm across the grid.

Newsreader Text sets all running text – chosen for its optical-size calibration at small sizes and its ability to sustain long-form reading while giving the pages a considered, editorial weight.

Silka anchors the identity – logotype, standfirsts, and interview questions – its humanist tone counterbalancing Right Grotesk's geometric rigour. In colour-block encadrés, Silka replaces Newsreader as body copy, visually differentiating these sections from the main editorial flow.

The grid alternates between strict alignment and deliberate offsets, typographic elements breaking the column structure to introduce visual tension. Colour is used boldly – frank, saturated accents punctuating the rhythm of the pages – an unusual stance for a readership accustomed to the conservative visual codes of HR publishing.

I got great satisfaction from this project. It was the Vietnam era, and I was solidly against that unnecessary and unwinnable war waged by a lying administration which was killing off so many American youth. This piece walks a line between promotion and parody. The ROTC folks loved it for their purposes, while others thought it somewhat ridiculed soldiering.

Hålogaland Revisjon is a long-standing audit firm in Northern Norway with an updated visual identity and website designed by Riktig Spor. The redesign centres on a simple equals sign as the main symbol, used as a mark of balance and as a visual shorthand for “two lines under the answer”.

The identity extends into a communication concept built around small “equations”, and it is applied across a compact one-page website and a separate recruitment page.

The typeface used is Store Norske Ja from Skriftkompani.

Poster campaign in 2025 to find new staff

The Berliner Wasserbetriebe is Berlin’s municipal utility company, responsible for managing the city’s water supply, wastewater, and rainwater infrastructure. Through its subsidiary, Berliner Stadtwerke, it also provides electricity. The company has used TheSans, designed by LucasFonts, as its corporate typeface for many years, and continues to do so to this day. The font family is used consistently in advertising, on the website, and on signage. The italic font choice for the logo is perfect for a company that works with water, conveying a sense of dynamism.

TeamFirst is a community-driven platform in Japan focused on fostering both individual careers and company growth. It unites forward-thinking professionals—bilingual talents included—and innovative companies via events, mentorship, and recruiting services.

For their rebrand, nowthen used Sagace as the main typeface, paired with Hauora Sans Medium for text.

Golden is a talent consultancy for the creative and marketing industries, connecting brilliant people with roles at culture-conscious companies. Founded by Kate, who brings deep industry knowledge and a belief that work should feel better, Golden is on a mission to make working life more meaningful.

OHMY built a brand and website around the idea of making life golden, a visual expression of what it feels like to find the right fit. Illustrated worlds, warm colours, and playful details create a sense of joy and optimism, while the website itself guides people with clarity and care.

Typography plays a big role here. The wordmark uses a customised version of Neurath by René Bieder: beautifully open letterforms, full of character, especially in heavier weights. It feels approachable, the typographic equivalent of a kind face. We extended its use to titles for the same reason. For body copy, we paired Neurath with Faculty Glyphic, designed by Koto and freely available on Google Fonts, which brings just the right amount of character while balancing nicely with Neurath.

The result is a distinct and uplifting identity that reflects Golden’s purpose: helping people thrive by making the world of work feel brighter, fairer, and full of potential.

Crewplanet is a crewing agency located in the Netherlands and Latvia, supplying crews and providing crew management for almost any type of vessel. This information brochure (pdf) was designed by Alexey Murashko using Osnova.

Midnight:AM is a creative agency based in NYC that “provides highly curated talent, recruitment and payment services”. The website, designed by Bruno Café and developed by Dima Kantalinsky, uses solely TWK Everett by Nolan Paparelli, with a modified A for the wordmark.

Steam (formerly AAS) provides recruitment services. It specialises in recruitment and employment, covering the search, attraction, selection, final choice, and engagement of candidates. The company prides itself on nearly 20 years of experience in acquiring teams for short-term, long-term, and permanent positions.

The brand communication prioritises appealing to workers over employers. Starting with the concept of ‘team’, the brand evolved through associations with S-tier quality and the phrase ‘working at full steam’. These elements coalesced into the final name: Steam. The verbal identity expands on the S theme, employing it as the initial letter for key branding terms such as ‘savvy’, ‘solid’, and ‘scrupulous’. This approach creates a cohesive narrative that subtly explains the brand’s ethos.

The letter S forms a solid foundation, symbolising strength and unity, essential for building cohesive teams. The chosen geometry is bold, symmetrical, brimming with energy. The full Steam logotype can transform into a dynamic S-class adjective carousel. The word ‘team’ in Steam can be swapped out with any powerful S adjective, giving the brand a versatile visual tool. This simple yet effective approach resonates with both large corporate clients and everyday workers. Such a confident approach achieves maximum impact through minimal visual assets, demonstrating the power of simplicity in design. To balance the simplicity, Steam’s photography style focuses on authentic representations of workers in their actual environments, presenting a professional yet relatable image of the company, emphasising the value of all workers and the real work they perform.

Albra from Ultra Kuhl and Metro Sans from Studio Few are used for the rebrand of hirro, a recruitment agency specializing in the training sector.

From design studio Not In Paris Now (translated):

Not In Paris Now is supporting hirro in a comprehensive transformation of its brand image and web platform, from visual identity to the creation of social media content, including website and stationery.

Hirro’s visual identity is intended to be sober, minimal, and controlled. It emphasizes the use of strong, distinctive iconography, notably through portraits set in an atmosphere imbued with the agency’s accent colors. The typographic system combines two visually distinct typefaces, highlighting both the contemporary and innovative aspect of the agency while enhancing its position as a confirmed leader among independent recruitment agencies in the training sector.

A true brand platform centered on recruitment, the website is designed to streamline contact initiation and highlight the various recruitment packages offered by hirro.

YoungCapital NEXT is one of the latest additions to the portfolio of The Works, a holding specializing in recruitment and job brokerage based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. What started in the year 2000 with a Dutch online platform bringing students into student jobs, meanwhile grew into a network of 28 different offerings across ten European countries and a business volume of over 600 million euros (in 2021).

The holding’s trumps are their longterm digital expertise in the field, an enormous databank with millions of registered applicants and employers, and the fact that each of their offerings targets a specific job market. YoungCapital NEXT was launched in 2019 and addresses graduates of higher education. It aims at bridging the gap between degree and the first job position by providing training and coaching.

The current website of YoungCapital NEXT was designed in 2024 by Dutch agency Verve. Its primary colors are dark green and orange, spiced up with secondary bright pink, blue, and green. What shapes the identity on top of these is the headline typeface, Stratos Semibold, designed by Yoann Minet. It’s used exclusively in the condensed capitals. A main feature of Stratos is the mix of narrow uppercase letters that create a poignant impact with a lowercase that is wider and of geometric character. Stratos Semibold is used for typesetting the headlines. The reading text on the site displays DM Sans by Colophon Foundry. A third, fancy typeface comes into play for advertising purposes: here Stratos is mixed with glyphs from True Grit Irregular, an experimental custom font designed exclusively for the YoungCapital NEXT identity.

The BND, short for Bundesnachrichtendienst, is the foreign intelligence agency of Germany, directly subordinate to the Chancellor’s Office. Since 2019, the BND headquarters is located in central Berlin. The BND’s current recruitment campaign uses Cy by supertype.

It’s the first application of the BND’s new identity including a new logo featuring a stylized eagle and a BND wordmark in Linotype’s DIN Next, which is also used for accompanying text. For security reasons, the name of the responsible agency will not be made public.

Jomigo is a recruitment agency based in Berlin, promising its clients simpler and smarter recruiting. They fill the most urgent positions for companies across Germany in the shortest time possible: through a curated community of specialized freelancers, intelligent matching of recruitment assignments, and the use of objective performance data.

For Jomigo, I developed a new corporate identity with a modular key visual. Bold and vibrant yellow, paired with beige tones, reinforces the messaging, along with lively imagery that showcases both recruiters and their clients. A fresh, striking presence for a young agency.

The wordmark was created using the Kobe typeface. The letters j and i were shaped to resemble two people reaching out to shake hands, symbolizing lively communication on equal footing between the agency, clients, and recruits.

Kelly Services, “the largest international company providing HR and outsourcing solutions since 1946” used TT Norms Pro on their website in 2023.

Customized Rza in use for the rebrand of Upwork by Porto Rocha and Alto, alongside Neue Montreal. Description of the project by Porto Rocha:

Grounding the typographic system is Upwork Neue Montreal, a matter-of-fact sans serif; the custom serif Upwork RZA adds a warmer, personal sensibility. Working together, this pairing strikes a balance of technical precision and human warmth — a duality embodied in Upwork’s product.

TT Travels Next is the signature font of Eleven Eleven, a tech recruitment company. On their website, it is paired with Aperçu Mono.

Eleven Eleven is the global talent partners for the videogame and tech industries. Eleven Eleven team hires, builds, and matches talent with leading games and tech companies to foster growth and creativity.

Recruited is a specialist recruitment company that works with high-growth start-ups to build their product teams and helps candidates find roles.

Klutch Studio worked on the brand strategy and the visual identity including the logo and website design, using F37 Judge, GT Flexa, and Area.

Altis Recruitment’s new identity, marked by the 35th anniversary milestone, consolidates under the Altis brand, integrating their diverse services into a streamlined, national umbrella. This rebranding, by Partywave Studio, signifies a strategic shift towards unified, specialized services, maintaining their longstanding commitment to excellence in IT and professional recruitment​​​​. Altis Recruitment is a prominent Canadian firm specializing in professional services, executive recruitment, and finance, among other areas. The fresh brand identity is accentuated by the versatile use of TWK Lausanne, designed by Nizar Kazan and published by WELTKERN®, lending both text and headlines a modern and cohesive look.

These bumper stickers apparently were handed out by recruiters for the United States Navy sometime in the 1970s. The type is a slanted version of bold Windsor. There was also a variant with all text in blue – and a yellow smiley in place of the mermaid.
