The Club français du livre (CFL) is a French book club founded in 1946 by Stéphane Aubry and Paul Stein a.k.a. Jean-Paul Lhopital. Active until around 1980 and renowned for the artistic quality of its productions. First literary director was Robert Carlier in 1947, succeeded in 1952 by Claude Grégory. CFL’s first art director was Pierre Faucheux, succeeded by Robert Massin, Jacques Darche, and Jacques Daniel [Wikipedia]. In 1952, Carlier and Massin started the competing Club du meilleur livre.
