The Gambler is the sixth studio album by Kenny Rogers (1938–2020), opening up with his signature song of the same title. Released by United Artists in December 1978, the album has sold over 35 million copies.

The cover design features two decorative typefaces with roots in the 19th century. “Kenny Rogers” and “Gambler” are set in Gardenia (with faux small caps), connected by a catchword of unknown origin. Gardenia is shown in VGC’s 1972 catalog as part of the T.J. Lyons collection, and also in Dan X. Solo’s Victorian Display Alphabets (Dover, 1976) According to WhatTheFont contributor philippedada, the ornamented Clarendon is based on an alphabet shown in Joseph-Balthazar Silvestre’s Alphabet-Album from 1843. It’s not included in this digitized edition, though. The note “Color poster inside” at the bottom uses Ribbonette. This fancy face was likewise available from Solotype, and also from Lettergraphics, among others.

Choctaw Casinos has adopted eye-catching rainbow typography using the Refrigerator Deluxe typeface by Mark Simonson for their latest campaign. This typography treatment was carried out consistently across multiple platforms: billboards, website, magazine ads and more.

The Choctaw logo is set in Trajan and Gill Sans; the body copy on the website is set in Encode Sans.
