“Route To Christmas” is a folded poster (55×80 cm) designed by Lars Schrodberger für effektiv Druck+Veredelung. The print, packaging and paper finishing company in Fürth also produced the product to market their craft and services. The poster acts as a calendar leading up to Christmas eve with 24 entertaining facts about the holidays. On the reverse side it also functions as gift wrapping paper, printed in two spot colors on Soporset Premium Offset 80 g/m² paper and finished with gold hot foil stamping. The outer folder is produced with Gmund Used 8 300 g/m² and stamped with white foil. It is typeset in HAL Timezone by HAL Typefaces and KTF Forma by Kyiv Type Foundry.

Otherly is a dairy-free chocolate brand from Edinburgh that uses oatmilk in place of traditional dairy. Rather than leading with functional benefits, the brand positions itself as a celebration of individuality and differences.

Designed by Glasgow-based Freytag Anderson in collaboration with Brooklyn illustrator Tomi Um, the identity centers on fantastical, illustrated worlds populated by quirky characters. Each flavor variant features distinct settings—from underwater realms to outer space, the jungle, beach, moon, and city—where no rule is followed and logic can be broken.

The wordmark uses OH no Type Co's Irregardless, a sans serif with irregular details that mirrors the brand’s off-kilter personality. Obviously serves as the secondary typeface across the packaging and brand system.

Tomi Um’s illustration style dominates the packaging, creating immersive, whimsical scenes printed on home-recyclable wrappers. The design extends across the full brand experience including website, motion graphics, and social content.

The project received a Wood Pencil at the D&AD Awards 2024 in the Packaging Design category.

Design applied to an advent calendar

Drawing inspiration from Lore’s 2024 theme of a fairytale Christmas, we designed a Grimm-inspired cabinet of curiosities for their annual 12-day advent calendar.

Crafted with a combination of tactile stocks and intricate bronze foils, the advent is elevated and opulent. Its aesthetic draws from antique bookmaking traditions, delicate paper cuttings, and the charm of classic storybooks. The design captures a sense of romance, mystery, and multiple layers of storytelling.

At the heart of the concept is an original story written exclusively for the advent, weaving together a hidden garden, a golden flower, and the enigmatic cabinet itself.

Over twelve days and nights, the narrative unfolds, with each drawer and chapter revealing a curated scent sample, a scent card, a blotter, and detailed accompanying videos hosted on an online digital storybook.

Design and concept by AKLR for Lore Perfumery, with specialist production by Work Works and photography by Griffin Simm. The typeface is Romie by Claude Type.

Ch. Demel’s Söhne is a K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäckerei (royally appointed patisserie) in the heart of Vienna. A cultural and culinary institution, the traditional coffee house has been tempting locals and travellers alike since being founded in 1786.

As part of a wider initiative to rebrand, a limited edition range of Christmas products were created for Demel’s 2021 holiday season. They were inspired by Viennese architecture and combined bold modernity with notes of old-world charm.

All products were photographed (by Medium Large Studio) as part of a hyper-stylised seasonal campaign, featuring many traditional baking utensils, as well as other objects, found throughout the historic Demel building.

The Advent Project is an online, multimedia advent calendar featuring 24 pieces of bite-sized art by different artists. Each day between December 1st and December 24th, users unlock a new, short piece of media — songs, illustrations, stories, crafts, jokes, and more. This year’s calendar benefits The Community Justice Exchange, a non-profit dedicated to building a community-centered vision of justice.

The brand identity relies on two font families: Duplicate Sans by Christian Schwartz for body text and headings, and Matthew Butterick’s Triplicate (particularly the italic, non-monospaced variant) for captions and other supplemental text.

Each year’s calendar features a completely new identity and site design. Further, each of the year's 24 artwork pages has its own color scheme, inspired by the tone and content of the piece. All of these pages are anchored by the same type — giving the site a consistent user experience, while pulling focus away from the project brand and on to the piece itself.

The Lost Art of Making a Gift is an extraordinary Advent calendar. Each of its 24 tear-off sheets holds an unconventional gift idea.

The term “Lost Art” was deliberately chosen, encouraging people to reconsider the holiday season as an opportunity for doing unique favors, instead of a period that is dominated by shopping stress.

The aim of the gift ideas is to remind us of the magic of an unexpected present, and so to stimulate the creativity of the donor. The suggested gifts are suitable for children and adults, for lovers and adventurers, for idols, best friends, and missed opportunities – ideas that seduce to take action.

The calendar is published by NKR – Initiative Leben schenken. This organization’s mission is to motivate healthy people to get registered as potential stem cell donors. Unfortunately, the cost of the necessary test is not covered by health insurance or other public facilities. For a donation of 10 euros you can buy our charity calendar and do something good: All proceeds will be used exclusively for building up the stem cell donor registry, so that humans suffering from leukemia can be given the chance for a new life.

ItYt – I think You think

The Hanover-based designers combined illustration and handwriting with two fresh typefaces. Caput (2006–2010) is a contemporary sans serif by Natascha Dell and Kai Oetzbach of Fontfarm. For titles and dates, ItYt picked Trigot (2010), a modernized modular blackletter drawn by Michael Hübner and published with another German indie label, Volcano Type.
