“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” is a talk series held at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Since 2019, it has been hosting public lectures, debates, and book presentations, with Tim Ingold and Victoria Browne among their guests.

Designer Stephanie Specht was in charge of the visual identity. She developed a series of posters featuring title, venue and date set in Neue Haas Unica Medium and “Art Talk” in Coign 47 Bold, while the names of the speakers stand out with a diverse range of typefaces. All in all, Specht designed at least fifty different posters, almost always with different typefaces. Her eclectic approach adds a vibrant flair to the design, which is renewed for every event. The Graphic Design program of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp exhibits itself. Under the title 100 Details, for fourteen days, particular attention was given to the detail. What are these one hundred details with which the programme puts itself in the spotlight? Is it peculiarities or, on the contrary, trivialities that speak most for themselves?

Starting from 001 list of 100 items that represents the recent history of the programme, 023 students multiplied this into 004 lists, 001 audio recording, 008 projectors together creating 001 large projection, 2k4 minutes of film, 010 light boxes and 100 different handouts printed on 1k4 sheets of paper normally worn by runners. However, during its setup, the exhibition was already closed (corona). No exhibition, no public. The handouts were to be bound in 014 catalogues.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is opening their doors to the public – or in this case their windows. Different windows of the academy’s distinct buildings are shown in a graphical way to symbolize the openness of the art school and the insights that the visitors can get at the Open House event. Illustrated books in an abstractly shown bookshelf behind these windows visualize the knowledge and the learning that is happening in the academy.

In 2023, the Royal Academy of Antwerp will commemorate its 360th anniversary. To mark the occasion, and following an invitation from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, it is staging the exhibition Art Bridges: From Antwerp to Beijing and back again. The exhibition will feature 360 contributions from students of all years and disciplines.

Specht Studio (Stephanie Specht) created the visual identity for the Royal Academy of Antwerp’s Master 2021 graduation exhibition. A project mainly based on expressive typefaces: Aerobik (from lift-type) and Whyte Inktrap (from Dinamo), paired with Stanley (from Optimo).

Art on Campus, an open-air exhibition at the Royal Academy Antwerp, celebrates both the 360th anniversary of the Academy, as well as the 10th edition of Art on Campus. For the 10th time, master students of In Situ will show the result of their dialogue with the green environment of Campus Drie Eiken.

Show Up/Show-Off is an exhibition of 200 artworks on 200 billboards in the streets of Antwerp, Belgium, along with lectures and performances from 28 June till 25 July 2021.
The exhibition presents art prints from national and international established and emerging artists, artists from Antwerp art galleries and from students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Sint Lucas Antwerp.

The typographic poster is made up of four versions with different coloured areas that each in their own way scream for attention. The interplay of geometric shapes emphasises the dynamics of the artistic event. The typography in the visual is made with Dolis, a typeface designed by Loris Pernoux. Aktiv Grotesk, a grotesque sans-serif typeface by Dalton Maag was used for the descriptive text below.

A newspaper created at the Graphic Design department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp during my 2nd bachelor year, containing drawings made by the students from different departments, including graphic design, fashion design and jewelry design.

The assignment was to make a newspaper to honor the importance of drawing in art schools. The typeface used in this publication is called Separat, by Or Type.
