fuxundkauz (the German name references two very different creatures, the fox and the owl) takes philosophical workshops or rather “thinkshops”, into schools. Given that we’re all different, there’s more than one way of looking at fundamental issues. Which provides plenty to talk about, also and especially with students.

The visual identity translates this approach into simple, clear imagery – two individuals meet and engage in dialogue, showing that peaceful coexistence is perfectly possible even when you’re not cut from the same cloth. you just have to talk to one another. Here we have a clear statement from our two clients and, incidentally, not only political education but aesthetic training as well: being quirky can be beautiful; you don’t have to fit in.

Ordinary People designed the exhibition graphics and book for the 2023 Title Match: Dongi Lee vs. Sangwoo Kang at the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, part of the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA). Title Match is a signature annual exhibition at the museum, and for 2023, it brought together artists Dongi Lee and Sangwoo Kang. These artists deconstruct the familiar by either ‘borrowing what has already been borrowed’ from mass media imagery or by revealing the ‘insignificant and fragile figure seen from behind’.


From the works of Dongi Lee and Sangwoo Kang, Ordinary People distilled shared themes of ‘temporality’, which disrupts linearity, and ‘ambiguity’, which purposefully obscures the familiar. Inspired by these concepts, they reinterpreted established norms, incorporating ambiguity as a core graphic element throughout the exhibition. The accompanying book also embraces this theme, reimagining conventional book structures, reading sequences, and orientations.

The design combines contemporary Latin and Korean typefaces to support the exhibition’s layered narrative. Farmacia by Nguyen Gobber is used for English titles across both the exhibition graphics and the book, adding a distinctive visual character to the design. Aktiv Grotesk KR by Dalton Maag serves as a secondary heading typeface for English and Korean in the exhibition graphics, providing clarity and consistency across languages. In the book, Korean headings are set in AG Madang Display by the AG Typography Institute, while GT America by Grilli Type is used for Korean and English body text.

Logo

In 2024, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley in Danville, California, became MuseumSRV. The rebrand used type as a bridge between the Valley’s past and its present younger, diverse community. We chose OH no Type Co.’s Fatface and Compadre for their mix of historical flair and modern charisma. We wanted something expressive enough to engage kids and families, yet refined enough for longtime supporters. Their bold curves and contrast brings warmth and friendliness to everything from exhibit titles to donor materials. Paired with a bright, Valley-inspired palette, the typefaces helped transform the museum’s voice into something fresh, welcoming, and alive. See more on the Small Forest website.

Gamay by Darden Studio is the typeface used in the new visual identity of Thunderbowl Architects.

The architectural practice in Aspen presents itself with a logo that features two weights of Gamay Narrow. It’s merely a line of text in all caps, and there are design pundits who frown upon logos that are just typed out, without further adjustments. But we think it works great here!

The subtle contrast in weight adds structure – without the need to separate the two words by a space or a line break. The logo is wide, but, thanks to the compact typeface, not overtly so. In fact, the proportions nicely echo the vastness of Colorado’s mountainous scenery. Tracking was opened up a bit, giving the wordmark an airiness that’s a good fit for the firm’s architectural projects. Fortuitously, Gamay’s W – a symmetrical letter distinguished by a pointed apex – falls right in the center.

The Narrow is the most space-saving width out of the six included in the typeface family designed by Viktoriya Grabowska. All-caps Gamay Narrow also serves for the titles and headlines on the website. Body copy is rendered in Alexandra Korolkova’s PT Sans Narrow.

Identity for triathlon brand Plus58 by Oslo-based design studio Bleed.

Plus58 is a premium triathlon brand built on persistence, passion and the relentless pursuit of progress, offering progressive technical apparel. Its name pays tribute to the 58 second margin that decided “The Greatest Race Ever Run”, symbolizing the fine line between victory and defeat.

Typefaces by Displaay Type Foundry (Greed, Saans) and Grilli Type (GT America Mono).

Designer Hayley Lim taps into the expressive tension of Faust (designed by Bouk Ra and released by Type Department) to craft the visual identity for StillBitter Lemonade Co., a brand that leans into contrast – tart yet elegant, bold yet refined. Faust’s razor-sharp serifs and exaggerated curves lend the brand a sense of cultivated drama, perfectly echoing the product’s name and attitude.

Used across packaging and brand assets, Faust brings high contrast and an air of irreverent sophistication. The typeface balances between ornamental and functional, delivering standout shelf presence while maintaining readability – ideal for a modern beverage brand that wants to feel both niche and premium.

In the hands of Lim, Faust becomes more than a type choice – it’s a statement of flavor, edge, and aesthetic bite. The accompanying sans is Kilotype’s Oldschool Grotesk Compact.

Natalie Cole’s album Love Essentials, released in 2007, is a compilation of her most romantic and love-themed songs, featuring tracks like “Miss You Like Crazy” and “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)”. Gotham Book is used in all caps.

First released in 1961 on Allamande with a different cover, this is the 1963 release by Reprise Records. Each of the title’s three words is set in a different color, using lowercase Matterhorn. Underneath, “called by Frannie Heintz” uses Univers 59.

The visual identity for the inauguration of Sesc Franca brings the typographic experimentation of its workshops to large-scale screens and supports. The entire graphic was developed using the procedural animation software Cavalry. BVH Eiffel by André Baldinger and Fanny Hamelin from BVH Type brings the complex architecture of the new building to the visual identity.

Voordekunst (“For the arts”) is the leading crowdfunding platform for creatives in the Netherlands. Over the years, voordekunst has grown into a national institute and asked Rotterdam-based studio The Phoney Club to develop a fresh face to replace their visual identity by Verve that could keep up with its future ambitions.

The brief for the project specified the use of a Google Font, prioritising ease of use and accessibility across various platforms. DM Sans by Colophon was the ideal choice, meeting the requirement for a simple, versatile typeface that could function seamlessly in a wide range of digital environments. Chosen for its clean and versatile nature, it plays a pivotal role in maintaining consistency. The simplicity of the font in Regular and Medium weights provides clarity and accessibility, grounding the brand’s energetic and colourful content with a professional yet approachable feel. DM Sans serves as a stabiliser, ensuring that the diverse content remains cohesive and easy to navigate.

Showcasing a wide variety of colourful artworks and content – often all in one place – the brand required a visual system that balanced cohesion with creative freedom. With the introduction of a flexible design-grid, the content, along with new brand elements like animated illustrations and icons, could move expressively within a well-arranged framework. Structural elements such as repeating patterns and a distinctive colour palette ensure that the brand remains unified, without losing its creative energy.

Squad Studio designed the visual identity of Happy Alley with the intent to capture the joy and craftsmanship behind every cookie and sandwich they offer. The project aimed to elevate Happy Alley’s flagship bakery, balancing playfulness with a refined aesthetic. The design uses bold colours and thoughtful messaging, creating a lively yet cohesive experience across in-store elements and social media.

An elegant wordmark based on Editorial Old by Pangram Pangram complemented by the typeface Farmacia by Nguyen Gobber and cheerful illustrations shape a warm and welcoming visual identity.

The fiftieth season of the American sketch comedy late night television program Saturday Night Live premiered on September 28, 2024 on NBC and Peacock, with host Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll.

Acme Gothic, specifically Acme Gothic Wide, is used for the main logo, with ITC Avant Garde Gothic being used for the “50,” when it appears.

The visual identity for the Halftime Orange Wine Festival was designed by Chai Kunpeng (After Path Design), who describes the project as follows:

Organized by thewinepool, the first Orange Wine Festival in China was held at the outdoor basketball court in the north section of Beijing's China World Trade Center. thewinepool's posters were based on a half-symmetrical design based on the keyword of the "basketball court" half of the court. The graphic of the basketball court was used as the soil from which the tools used to make orange wine, such as clay pots and grapes, sieves and scissors, were grown to create a visual image of natural vitality.

The same material was used for both the poster and the derivatives package: PE woven bag, screen printed with environmentally friendly ink. The reason for using the traditional printing method and the specificity of the material is that we are trying to express the organic raw material, the sustainability and the vitality of the brewing method of "Orange Wine" in a more relevant way. The idea is to bring the participants closer to "Orange Wine", "Natural Brewing" and "Freshness".

In the Paris office of Fonts Ninja, a striking typographic wall features the Angela typeface from Newglyph. This design choice perfectly aligns with Fonts Ninja’s focus on typography and design.

Alias Ano in use for Glasgow’s three-day TRNSMT festival 2024.

Ano has been used for the festival since 2017 - returning in 2021 after a two year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As before, variety of secondary typefaces are used, including Access.

TT Travels has become a corporate font for the conference HighLoad++.

HighLoad++ is a conference for systems developers that shares knowledge about technologies that enable the simultaneous service of thousands and millions of users. The HighLoad++ conference in Serbia, scheduled for July 4, 2023, is a prime example of using TT Travels as the corporate font in our promotional images.

In a world full of large grotesk fonts and blocky layouts, my portfolio website aims to offer an unconventional mix of fonts that invoke a strong sense of emotion. Throwing out the prejudice of ugly and beautiful allows the artistic combo of typefaces to shine through, complimenting the retro aesthetic.

This website aims to give an impression of “familiar yet not at the same time”, thanks to the nostalgic mockups combined with MCKL’s innovative degradation concept of their Redaction. An unexpected pairing of fonts is attained by adding Söhne from Klim Type Foundry and Self Modern from Bretagne. The typesetting – a mix of all lowercase and all caps – ensures a refreshing impression.

LaFabrikaDrink is a brand of artisanal lemonade made in France by an enterprise of the same name. Their visual identity was designed by Christophe Lombard a.k.a Buckwild.

Flexible is used as the main typeface (for logo and flavor), paired with Archia.

Anna Rosholt designs jewellery for women to celebrate their distinct style and elegance. Their primary goal is to create and sell pieces with authentic texture and intricate detail, where no weight is shaved or corners are cut.

At the start of the project, Anna Rosholt was already a well-established and well-loved brand having launched multiple collections. The mission was to give them a strategic and visual direction to tie the existing collections together and guide the brand into the future.

Digital Butter took inspiration from Anna Rosholt’s bold but refined jewellery style to create a fun yet sophisticated brand that honoured the existing brand elements.

The result is fresh, new messaging and visual branding with strong brand cohesion across all touch points.

The visual identity of La Filmoteca was designed by Democràcia, using Exposure by Federico Parra Barrios and Neue Montreal by Mathieu Desjardins.

In the style of a Fanzine and as a form of revival, the Filmoteca's identity has been created with the assistance of the Exposure® typography by Federico Parra Barrios and edited by 205TF.
Based on the play of light, the brand is presented with a variable identity.
Inspired by self-publishing, for editorial use and publications, the brand employs a simple structure. The treatment of images complements the content, adding identity to the refined aesthetic. The use of leftover printer papers in random colors adds originality and spontaneity.

Located in Valencia, the Filmoteca is both a library and a cinema. It screens art house, classic, experimental and original films. This cinema bases its program on already released films. These are usually included in seasons that correspond to an actor, a director, a theme, a cinematic tendency or a different school. These can be either foreign or Spanish productions. It's worth noting that it is one of the few cinemas that screen short films. It is, at the same time, one of the most active cinemas during the annual Muestra de Cine del Mediterranni (Mediterranean Film Festival).
