Maldita Envidia (meaning “Damn Envy”) is a Mexican dressing brand whose visual identity, crafted by Guadalajara-based Estudio Cariño, playfully subverts the concept of envy, framing it as a positive drive for culinary discovery. The branding is designed to stand out on crowded retail shelves, drawing inspiration from the high-contrast, hand-painted cardboard signs found in traditional Mexican street markets.

For its brand identity, the studio says:

The graphic identity was developed the same way a dressing is prepared: with small touches—sometimes just a pinch, sometimes bold and dominant.

In order to do that, the wordmark uses Pouler by Alexandre Créquer, with some custom ligatures and a variation on the A for the logotype. In addition, they used Balacar from The Designers Foundry, GT Haptik from Grilli Type, and Quick Writers by Letterhead Studio. GT Alpina carries longer texts.

BEEUP is a brand of honey-powered fruit snacks that was launched in 2025. Co-founded by former professional footballer David Beckham, BEEUP hopes to disrupt the kids snack space by offering more naturally made gummy that harnesses honey’s “superfood power”.

The BEEUP logo features Central Type’s Dug set in all-caps and treated with a thin outline and a heavy drop shadow. Dug is also sporadically used for various headlines (“BEE LIKE BECKHAM”). The secondary type is all set in Termina by Fort Foundry.

Hany’s Harvest’s packaging and visual identity features three typefaces from Faire Type. Print is used for big headlines, Print Text for subheads, and Sprig Sans for all the body copy.

Entry sign to the city of Melitopol (Мелітополь), made in Friz Quadrata Bold, with Cyrillic letters. Paratype does offer a Cyrillic version of this typeface, but theirs has different forms for Л and Ь than what’s featured in the sign.

The photo was taken on 18 May 2018. In addition to cherries and cogwheels (for mechanical engineering), the symbols on the right depict honeycombs – Melitopol literally is the “city of honey”.

Paoletta is an Italian brand of honey and other healthy products. For the logotype the designers from Sparrow Design used the typeface Loggia from Typeverything. The text on the labels is added in Ponzu by Mint Type.

You and your children crave the delicious bee honey

Cover of a 1929 leaflet by Frau Rektor Feindt & Söhne, a honey wholesaler in Hemelingen, Germany. The typography features three typefaces by the Stempel foundry in Frankfurt: Halbfette Diana (F. Schweimanns, 1910) and Hölzl-Mediäval (Emil Hölzl) in mager (1913) and halbfett (1914) weights.

HumTree is a small batch fair trade brand with products sourced from Sundarbans, India. Out to prove that affordable does not have to mean low-quality, the brand has two aims: offering high-quality at accessible prices and giving back to the local forest workers by generating employment opportunities.

Studio Ping Pong worked with HumTree to create the brand name, brand identity, and packaging for their honey, helping to bring their story to life. HumTree works with indigenous communities of Sundarbans using forest-friendly practices. This sense of harmony and community was highlighted in the naming and branding. Hum, from the Hindi word for ‘us’ and the sound of bees, and Tree, reflecting its commitment to natural practices.

The visual design was made using linocut-style hand-drawn motifs and illustrations inspired by imagery from nature. Evoking the harmony of flora and fauna that the brand stood for and highlighting the handcrafted nature of its products.

With families and children as one of their identified customers, use cases were added to the packaging itself bringing out the unique benefits of each of the variants.

The logo was created using custom lettering, borrowing from vernacular alphabets (M) of the region. A modified Pally was used for titles and subtitles to stand out in shelves, while Basic Sans was used for body text. Good Dog New and Chantal was used within the packaging to complement the hand-drawn style illustrations.

The colour palette was kept to earthy greens and browns, evoking the forests where the products were made. The honey packaging relied on heavy use of deep brown-the colour of the honey, along with flavour based tones of magenta, green and gold.

You and Bees is a family-run corporation, working to raise awareness for and the preservation of pollinators in their ecosystem of the Bretagne and Pays de la Loire area. To populate bees on the parks and gardens of our cities, You and Bees installs beehives on the roofs of companies, and harvest the bees’ honey. They are a team of beekeepers who, for 15 years, have taught good practices to future professionals and friends of beekeeping.

We created the logo using Moranga designed by Sofia Mohr at Latinotype (Chile). For information, the visual identity mainly is essentially composed with Avenir, designed by Adrian Frutiger for Linotype. The bee being the main actor in this transformation from the flower to the spoon, the logo is inspired by the insect’s trajectory in flying.

Moret by The Northern Block and Metro Sans by Samuel Oakes in use for Manukora, a brand of high-grade ethical mānuka honey from New Zealand.

A pairing of Northern Block’s serif Moret and Samuel Oakes’ Metro Sans provides a careful typographic balance for the brand’s messaging. “The combination speaks to both the history and locale of Manukora, and the simplicity and transparency of the product,” Creative Director and Co-founder Peter Ladd tells us. “This combo allows for a playful approach to communications, pairing the typefaces with specific messaging, and matching the feelings we wanted to evoke.”

Pendo worked closely with Northern Block to create a custom version of Moret; a type family inspired by 20th-century European sign painting. The goal of the customisation, Ladd explains, was to create “a more sophisticated, simplified version of Moret.” In order to achieve this, the team “pulled back on all the flourishes” as well as redesigned several of their letterforms: ‘a,’ ‘c,’ ‘f,’ ‘k,’ ‘q,’ ‘r,’ ‘s.’ “We’ve also further customised the letterforms for the Manukora wordmark,” Ladd adds “looking at each of the letterforms, and how they relate to one another.”

Miel au Carré’s purpose is to “bring bees and humans together”. Beekeepers Vanessa and Claudine offer hive installation, apiary education, as well as honey and related projects from Les Cèdres, Québec.

The brand design is by Montréal-based Studio Couleur Vive, developed together with Simon L’Archevêque. It features a wordmark and other graphic elements based on Snare.

The poster and the jar label additionally use Almarena. On the website, the logo in Snare is combined with Archia for text and Libre Franklin for menu and navigation.

"How bees see the world" or a critique of the human being as the center of absolutely everything.

Accustomed to hearing about the benefits that brands bring to human beings, I thought we had the opportunity to talk to consumers in a different way, to tell them something interesting beyond how good honey is for our health.

Tom Hayward is a hobby beekeeper, and in his spare time, he ethically harvests the honey that his bees forage from the great native forests and landscapes of Margaret River, Australia. Month after month he managed to infect me with his passion for beekeeping and bees, which led me to do very exhaustive research on the day-to-day life of bees. How they move, how they interact... how they see.

Foragers Honey labels are a representation of this very thing. How flowers appear from the point of view of one of the bees flying free foraging in the native landscape. Kaleidoscopic shapes formed in a hexagonal grid, in a world where red colors don't exist.

Romie is used for the logo and body copy. We used Questrial for “Margaret River”, and Inter plus Pragati Narrow as complementary types.

Foragers Honey Wildflower Mayes Imbernón

Traulha in use by Travaux-Pratiques for the packaging of “Le mî”, a honey brand created by beekeeper Thomas Jacques from Auvergne, France. In three to six harvests per year, Le Mî produces honeys with unique tones. To enable him to promote his approach and his products, Travaux-Pratiques have designed labels and a few tools for him: dry stamp, stamp, stencil, etc.

In 2020, taking advantage of the extraordinary generosity of bees, Thomas Jacques embarked on the production of mead on the good advice of Vincent Péricard, a master in the field. In the same format as that of honey (but rotated), the label accentuates the finesse of the bottle.

To design the identity and packaging of Amersham Honey, Jessica Brasil used the typeface Louize Display by Matthieu Cortat (205TF).

MIA VIA is sourcing fine organic foods only from Italian Demeter certified producers.

Transatlantika created the brand identity in collaboration with Picpacker Motion Design including name, logo, packaging, illustrations and a modular color concept to build a brand that is bold and elegant while subtly hinting at the company’s Italian origin.

The MIA VIA name (meaning ​“my way” in Italian) and logo is inspired by old Roman milestones. The typeface Garda Nova is based on the ancient Capitalis Monumentalis.

While the typeface has luxurious classic Italian feel, the generous letter spacing gives the logotype a touch of modernity.

Three typefaces are paired to create the MIA VIA brand identity. Garda Nova is used for the logo and slogan, the general text is set in Wigrum and quotes use the font Galien.

Le rucher de Laouilhaou (“Laouilhaou’s apiary”) is a producer of honey based in Monségur, in southern France. Beekeeper Pierre Lamothe oversees the entire process, from building the hives to harvesting and potting the honey.

Coralie Milière of Studio Silex designed a simple yet effective and beautiful labeling system. The product-inspired colors indicate the type of honey: a creamy beige for the polyfloral flavor, an estival violet for flower honey, and a sunny yellow for acacia honey. The typeface chosen for the purely typographic label designs is Media Sans by Production Type.

The packaging and best-before dates are added manually with stamps.

Brand and packaging design by Studio Gangplank for Bee One Third, an Australian beekeeping initiative founded on the premise that one third of our global food supply depends on bee pollination.

Studio Gangplank produced a packaging system that not only expresses Bee One Third's values, but also solved their growth challenges. Inspired by winemaking’s appreciation of terroir and climate, each hive and harvest features a unique range of artwork to be released in sync with the Australian beekeeping seasons.

The honey company’s logo, in full and compact version, is set in Tilda by Jessica Hische. All copy is set with Aperçu by The Entente.

Save the Queen is a premium brand of honey-hinted spirits on a mission. Each bottle sold contributes to protecting and sustaining bee populations, together with local beekeepers.

The identity was created by Belgian design studio Superset, who playfully combined Zangezi with Basis Grotesque Pro and Adventures Unlimited Script, along with illustrations by London based illustrator Charlotte Trounce.

Here’s what the designers say about the rebranding:

“Save The Queen has always been about working together with bees, for bees. We wanted to visualise the collaboration between man & bee, spirit & honey, distillery & hive, by representing both voices in the new design.”

The script follows the movements of a bee in flight, while Zangezi and Basis Grotesque serve as a solid and distinctive foundation on which the brand is built.

Though expressive typefaces like Zangezi usually work best on their own, this is a beautiful example where illustrations and two additional typefaces – one of which is also quite expressive – work very well together. The secret is in the well-balanced relationship between the various elements: the weight of Basis Grotesque and the fluidity of Adventures Unlimited Script correlate well with the thinnest strokes of Zangezi. Similarly, the contrast in the strokes of the illustrations correlates with the strokes of the typefaces.

Novo Mel, founded in 1994, sells organic honey from suppliers in different regions of Brazil to hotels, restaurants and supermarkets on all continents.

The Brazilian rain forest is known for its variety and therefore our honey has many different flavors (orange, eucalyptus, cashew, sugar cane, capixingui, assa-peixe, velame, etc.). (...) Brazilian honeys contain no trace of pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, radioactivity and other chemicals. (...) Brazilian bees do not require drugs or special treatment, leaving the Brazilian bee products residue free. — Novomel

Friends (and fellow kiwis living in L.A.) Luke Harwood & Gabrielle Mirkin wanted their mānuka honey brand Activist to celebrate a powerful period in New Zealand's history. A time when locals stood up and exercised their rights and left-over house paint was re-purposed for protest signs.

The design direction echoes this sentiment through a vibrant colour palette, emphatic typography & tactile stock. The logotype (based on Edwardian) taps into history, as does the tiny strapline ‘Give Freely’, set in Albertus. Nonetheless, both convey a contemporary feel, being paired with LL Brown.

The gold foil accents honours this beautiful product. Protecting what you love, and standing up for what you believe in underpins the Activist brand and is particularly relevant today.

The True Honey Company (TTHC) dedicates itself to the production of mānuka honey, a monofloral variety produced in Australia and New Zealand from the nectar of the mānuka tree. It has a unique colour and texture, and a high level of Dietary Methyglyoxal, an organic compound with antibacterial and antiviral properties.

With a price range starting at 60.00AUD and rising to 230.00AUD per jar, and working in a market flooded with sub-standard honey and dishonest marketing, communicating the value of product and the commitment of TTHC to quality and ethical production through an impactful and engaging brand identity and packaging design was paramount. This task was given to Auckland-based graphic design studio and packaging specialists Marx Design who collaborated with Think Packaging and writer Kate Phillips.
