It’s dated 1962 by <a href="https://archive.org/details/lp_symphony-no-5_dmitri-shostakovich-minneapolis-symphon">the Internet Archive</a>, but that year refers to <a href="https://www.discogs.com/master/581894-Shostakovich-Stanislaw-Skrowaczewski-Minneapolis-Symphony-Symphony-No-5">the original release on Mercury Records</a>. The shown re-release in the <a target="_self" class="entity-link" href="https://fontsinuse.com/tags/32874/philips-world-series" data-entity-code-id="32874" data-entity-code-type="Tag">Philips World Series</a> is from 1967: it was <a href="https://books.google.de/books?id=fCgEAAAAMBAJ&amp;pg=PA21&amp;lpg=PA21">advertised in September of that year</a>. Furthermore, the signature at the bottom left ends with “67”. Unfortunately I can’t decipher the artist’s name.</p>

<p>Dating this album is relevant for dating the typeface: <strong><a target="_self" class="entity-link" href="https://fontsinuse.com/typefaces/138146/stromberg-graphic" data-entity-code-id="138146" data-entity-code-type="TypeEntity">Stromberg Graphic</a></strong> is included in <a target="_self" class="entity-link" href="https://fontsinuse.com/foundry/130/photo-lettering" data-entity-code-id="130" data-entity-code-type="Foundry">Photo-Lettering</a>’s <a href="https://flickr.com/photos/stewf/52943649541/in/album-72157672536589760/">1971 catalog</a>, but not yet in their <cite>Alphabet Thesaurus</cite>, Vol. 2 from 1965. Its appearance here is proof that it was already available in 1967. Not only does the record cover represent the earliest documented use of Stromberg Graphic so far. With 74 characters and 29 unique glyphs including one numeral, it’s also the most extensive one.</p>
