Based in Copenhagen, NN.07 has made a name for itself in menswear with a simple concept: creating timeless, borderless clothing. Under the creative direction of Stine Nygaard, the label blends Scandinavian minimalism with travel-inspired storytelling.

To stand out from the classic, neutral fonts typically found in fashion, NN.07 chose a typeface with real character: Fautive from Blaze Type. Unlike smoother scripts, this font is sharp and elegant, bringing a punchy edge to the lookbooks and breaking up the rigour of Nordic design. Fautive is supported by Klim Type Foundry’s Untitled Sans.

The brand’s identity thrives on contrast. By pairing this expressive typography with clean photography and textured fabrics, NN.07 captures attention without cluttering the frame. Here, the typography does more than just accompany the brand name—it becomes the heart of its visual identity, asserting a bold, modern vision of luxury for the collections to come.

1977 ad for underwear by Jockey International, Inc., starring a roster of stripped-down jocks – Jim Hart, Denis Potvin, Jo Jo White, Steve Carlton, Pete Rose, Jamaal Wilkes, Jim Palmer, Ken Anderson – and one staple of 1970s typography, ITC Machine.

Industrie Africa started in 2018 as a platform to introduce the world to top-class fashion designers from the African continent. Developed further into an online marketplace in 2020, the website today includes the editorial blog section “Imprint” and allows to research for countries and designers’ profiles. In 2025 the first analogue concept store was opened inside the tourist resort of Bawe Island located in the Zanzibar Channel.

What developed so well is the work of founder Nisha Kanabar who was born in Tanzania to parents of Indian descent. After her Bachelor in Business Administration at New York’s Parsons School of Design in 2013, she pursued a career in communication and public relations in the field of fashion and luxury goods. Her path took her around half the globe to such prestigious workplaces as Vogue New York and Vogue Mumbai.

Industrie Africa’s website focuses on white as the main color. Apart from a few spots where earthy tones are used for emphasis, the colorful impact stems from the gorgeous fashion photography showcased. The typography follows two major lines: the use of generously tracked all-caps typesetting for headlines and straight-forward left-aligned typesetting for the reading text.

The font that coins the style of Industrie Africa is the seriffed roman Cardinal, designed by the team at Production Type under the guidance of Jean-Baptiste Levée. Cardinal is a complex design system encompassing the three basic variants Classic, Fruit, and Photo. While Fruit and Photo can be seen as two different display variants that share tight spacing, the Classic variant is a roman suitable for extended reading. Cardinal Classic takes references in the Garamont and Granjon styles without following the Renaissance pattern too strictly. As an extra, it offers ascenders and descenders in three different lengths, Short, Mid and Long, that enable graphic designers to pick the perfect style for a given purpose.

In use on the website presented here is Cardinal Classic Short, in Regular and Italic. For the running titles and functional elements it is complemented with Work Sans by Wei Huang, a rationalist (not geometric) sans serif inspired by the early Grotesque genre.

We created a brand identity for Parki Warszawa, a concept store offering superbly-crafted, primarily men’s but truly unisex fashion, complemented by photography albums and beautiful objects. We incorporated playful illustrative characters and embedded them in park-like surroundings, enhanced by a vivacious color palette. Visit the store yourself – it’s a beautifully executed example of brand development done right.

VMAN is an American bi-annual avant-garde fashion magazine featuring men’s clothing. It features the entire Protokoll family as well as the yet to be released ExtraBold and Black styles. They are set to be released by Out of the Dark.

Angus Chiang is a menswear label founded in 2015. Inspired by Taiwanese culture, this website showcases designs reimagined with a bold aesthetic, blended with humor and playfulness. It celebrates vibrant colors while staying true to its distinctive creative identity.

The primary typeface used on the website is Grover, or more specifically, Grover Bold Caps, by Sudtipos. It’s used for titles or strong visual elements. Next, F Grotesk by RP Digital Foundry adds a more modern and clean touch, providing excellent readability for body text and smaller elements.

Finally, Chinese text uses DynaComware’s PingFang, ensuring typographic consistency with the Latin elements.

The Angus Chiang website stands out with a playful, rounded typography that reflects the brand’s identity. Titles and key elements, such as the brand name and menus, are in uppercase and often bold, while descriptive text uses a more classic format for better readability. The scrolling text adds an interactive touch and enhances the site’s energy, perfectly aligning with its visual identity.

The website uses an effective typographic hierarchy with large, bold titles to grab attention, and smaller, standard-weight text for easy reading. Links are italicized or underlined to indicate interactivity.

 The use of space helps visually separate sections and clarify the hierarchy.

The Angus Chiang website features a responsive design that adapts to different devices. On desktop, the menu is horizontal with multiple columns, while on mobile, it becomes vertical with a single column. Images are resized on mobile for better performance, and interactions are optimized for touch on mobile, with larger elements, while the web version uses mouse hover actions.

The website offers interactive features to improve user experience. Hover effects reveal additional information on product images, and links within images and descriptions lead to detailed pages.

Interactive filters in the Shop section allow sorting by category, size, color, and price, making navigation and product searches easier and more intuitive.

In digital media, features like animations, clickable links, interactive filters, and content personalization are possible, offering a dynamic and personalized experience, unlike the static nature of print.

Angus Chiang graduated from Shih-Chien University in 2013. That same year, he released his graduation collection “Sailing the Moon”.

It was presented at the London Graduate Fashion Week in 2013, where it won the first prize in the international competition.

Since his debut, Angus Chiang has established himself as one of the most promising fashion designers, with collections that continue to garner international admiration.

20 pkt Barnum from Bauer & Co, shown in use in a small letterhead for Engelsk Beklædnings Magasin, advertising English menswear, lingerie, and hats. The store on Ringkjøbing’s Nygade was still in operation in the 1960s.

It was printed by A. Rasmussens Bogtrykkeri sometime in the 1910s. In fact this is not just an identical fount of Barnum used for this little print – this little print is set and printed from the exact same types now in my collection, when they was a part of the type collection at A. Rasmussen. The fount is together with its sisters on 36 & 60 pkt pin marked Bauer & Co Stuttgart. In 1897 the foundry was purchased by H. Berthold, Berlin, which continued to run the Bauer foundry as a branch.

Other typefaces include a Latin Antique – a style known in Germany as Breite Etienne – and one not further identified style (or two?) from the Romana genre, in roman and italic.

Beethoven Suit is a tailor at 698 Sukhumvit Rd in Bangkok, Thailand. The Latin version of the sign uses Jackson. While the bronze version right above the entrance closely follows the original in terms of width and tapering bars, the white one seen further up is a looser interpretation with more compact proportions and some changes, see especially the much larger counter of O and the flopped H.

The Thai spells สูทบีโทเฟน, pronounced “soot bee toh fehn,” and as far as I know uses custom letters made specifically for this sign.

Redcast Heritage Co. is a Madrid based menswear brand specializing Japanese influenced denim and vintage workwear.

Kerama Blue, their recent collaboration with Japanese denim label ONI, is a limited release of 158 pairs of selvedge jeans and 50 Type III jackets.

The artwork was designed by Canadian illustrator Jon Kutt (a.k.a. The High Road Design).

“Kerama Blue” is set in Dug by Central Type. Dug is also used for the secondary type “Intense Bio-Washed Natural Indigo Jeans”.

Natalino is a classic menswear brand inspired by relaxed Italian tailoring with a focus on flattering cuts and authentic, quality materials.

The logo sought to evoke a timeless quality and elegance, with the near-monolinear letterforms drawn closely from a 1930s specimen of Henry Reinhard Möller’s design Maximum. We refined this to devise a carefully composed mark with strong presence when seem in stitching as well as large in metal.

Alongside this we worked with Lucas Descroix (Plain Form) to create a bespoke brand typeface Guido with a complimentary italic cut. The Regular weight was both a revival and contemporary expansion of the work of a Florentine stone-carver from 1860. The differing proportions of the upper- and lowercase allow for a high level of flexibility when typesetting brand communications. The boxy, structural letterforms are softened with gentle turns and details, such as the detached tail of the Q and the cross-bar of the lowercase t. The eccentricities of the numberset are informed by the stone carver’s decisions, whereas the whole lowercase and italic cut was created from scratch.

In the course of the project the client secured premises for their flagship store so we brought architects Mooradian Studio onto the project to develop the architectural expression of the brand.

Mooradian studio’s approach developed the clients focus on materials and sourcing. A recycled paper was sprayed over all the surfaces of the shop interior to bind together the disparate elements of the existing building. The texture, which brings an unexpected and pleasingly soft acoustic, echos the undyed wool of the Natalino jackets as well as the rough stone facade of Scarpa’s Olivetti shop which was an early reference.

Expanding on the understated elegance which Natalino’s ethos and the new visual identity embodied; Mooradian devised a curving sculptural rail that stands in the centre of the store. Drawing on industrial dry cleaning references as a solution to the density of the collection to be displayed – a narrow collection but wide range of fabrics – Mooradian Studio collaborated with metalwork design and fabrication studio Mitre & Mondays to create the aluminium elements that run throughout the store.

Polytechnic supported throughout the architectural development, with the architectural response in turn informing our decisions to cut the store signage from aluminium and bond this directly to the glass.

eschenlauer sinic, a creative design practice based in Paris, was commissioned by photographers Suzie and Léo to conceptualize the editorial design and title for Spectrum. The lookbook displays the SS23 collection of Solid Homme, a leading Korean menswear brand known for its contemporary and refined aesthetic. Suzie and Léo provided art direction, guiding the visual narrative, while eschenlauer sinic crafted the editorial concept and typography to enhance Solid Homme’s distinct style. The collaboration resulted in a cohesive and visually compelling portrayal of the Spectrum collection, capturing the essence of both the brand and the photographers’ creative vision.

Barons is a Danish brand and webshop selling “business shirts for corporate warriors”.
Barons use brand ambassadors for the shirts with two well-known sports stars (at least well-known in Denmark), Michael Laudrup and Kevin Magnussen. The website was made by Grafikr, using IvyPresto for headlines and HK Grotesk for text.

Identity for menswear brand gajiroc. The word “gajiroc” means “as time goes by” in Korean. Just like its name, the company makes clothing classy, so it can last long. Ogg Display was chosen for this very specific reason as well.

Both gajiroc and Ogg reinterpret the classic into the contemporary taste. All the applications were designed to align with the idea of the mood and the core values of the company. Even the elegant serifs of Ogg look similar to the silhouette of gajiroc’s clothing.

Luisa is a Greek luxury retailer of both menswear and womenswear, carrying glamorous apparel and fashion items from international cutting-edge labels. Established in 1975, the company runs multi-brand boutiques in Athens, Kifissia and Kolonaki, which were more recently joined by Luisa Beach, a resort boutique in Mykonos. These physical outlets are complemented by a state-of-the-art e-commerce website that also caters to style-conscious customers abroad.

Art director Costas Aggeletakis of Deux Studio was commissioned to redesign the brand identity. He specified Columbia Sans by Production Type as Luisa’s typographic voice. The contrasted sans – or serifless roman – offers two optical sizes. The Luisa World identity mainly relies on the Columbia Sans Display subfamily, which is distinguished by a rather generous x-height and economic spacing, allowing for compact headlines.

Columbia Sans is used for all visual aspects of the brand, including the website shown here. There, Jean-Baptiste Levée’s typeface design is utilized in Light and Semibold weights, from banners on the homepage to the shop navigation including button labels, and even for the body copy in their journal called The Feed. With its classical shapes that combine a high stroke contrast with no-frills terminals, Columbia Sans is a self-evident choice for the context of luxury fashion. At the same time, its oblique contrast axis adds a welcome dynamic element, yielding a look that is both distinguished and sanguine.

Breathing new life into the iconic British (clothing) brand while embracing the label’s rich legacy. Taking them from re-launch, to re-name and beyond. Dropping the “& Wills” from the name allowed us to clean up the wordmark and laid the foundations to develop a flexible grid system. The recognisable Aubin fox also required an update. Redrawing and removing the clutter to form a clearer motif that works better at smaller sizes.

Holding strong to their original brand values of slow fashion we developed the single minded proposition of “Better Is Greater Than More”. This informed the launch campaign championing British pioneers with a focus on quality and the environment.

Identity exclusively uses Gill Sans.

For the sign of the Παπαβασιλοπουλος (Papavasilópoulos) menswear shop, an adaptation of Zipper for the Greek script is used, which seems to be a popular option for menswear stores in the Omonoia district, see the Arnokouros shop sign.

This is the first lowercase adaptation of Zipper that I have encountered. The lowercase π is the uppercase form at a smaller scale. Since it has no affinities to any letterforms of Zipper for the Latin script, it seems to be originally designed. Moreover, the π is different from other adaptations of Zipper, e.g in the logo of Πολιτιστική magazine. The lowercase λ (λαμδα, lamda) is a mirrored Latin h.

Bellerose is a premium clothing brand located in Belgium. Bellerose is selling men’s and women’s fashion online and through their flagship stores located in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Spain.

NN Nouvelle Grotesk Normal and Thin are used throughout.

Virgil Abloh presented his latest Louis Vuitton Men’s Collection as a multi-disciplinary performance that included spoken words written and performed by Saul Williams, and series of artistic expressions crowned by a performance by the celebrated American musician Yasiin Bey. The event took place at the Tennis Club de Paris against a modernist set.

Millionaire Script has been chosen to introduce the complete video, as well as to edit the end credits, and the social network campaign visuals. His lively rhythm and contemporary interpretation of calligraphy have earned him the choice of artists such as Azelia Banks, Rihanna or to dress up publications such as GQ Korea.

The name Alfred Dunhill is intrinsically linked with ‘Britishness’ and British style, and proudly so. It has stood the test of time and remains today a globally recognised brand that defines masculine luxury. We partnered with the brand to define its identity — its way of doing things is masculine and direct, often communicated through a single symbol or image. We developed a simple principle for all designed communications, the same principle as expressed by Mr Alfred Dunhill himself: “It must be useful, it must work dependably, it must be beautiful, it must last, it must be the best of its kind.”

The all-caps sans serif used for subheads and page navigation seems to be Futura, and the serif used for body text looks like Times New Roman.

Square Mile is a luxury men’s lifestyle magazine distributed in the City, London’s financial district. It features style, celebrity interviews, cool gadgets, cars, watches and more. Square Mile magazine wanted a contemporary typeface to use on its covers and feature articles. The look and feel of the typeface needed to appeal to its target audience — mainly high-net-worth males working in the City of London.

F37 Bella is a really stylish typeface. It helped to visually support the shift we made with the magazine to be more fashion and style focussed. Those razor-thin serifs are so distinctive … it’s an absolutely beautiful display font.
