King & Partners developed the brand identity for Four Seasons Naples, built around the concept Impressions of Paradise, expressed through bespoke botanical illustrations and tactile design details. The Merchant Room is a refined New American Brasserie by two-time James Beard Award–winning chef Gavin Kaysen, inspired by the elegance of Old Florida. The Merchant Room branding is set in Romie Regular and Italic, designed by Margot Lévêque.

Another fabulous piece of Victorian ephemera from the collection of Alan Mays, this time a business card by E.C. Davis, who, in addition to his day job of railroad ticket agent, was a collector of business cards himself.

The card features two ornate typefaces that were kindly identified by David Jasmund. Glyptic and Filigree were both designed by the prolific and imaginative Herman Ihlenburg for MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan, and patented in 1878 – exactly one month apart, on February 12 and March 12, respectively.

Talking about great monthly output: David Jonathan Ross just did a revival of Glyptic. He released his Glyptic DJR as the August 2022 installment to members of the Font of the Month Club.

Filigree is used with some of its many ornaments, but without the exuberant initials. The name in Glyptic is likewise framed by decorative pieces that were part of the font. The light italic is Venetian (Conner, 1870s). I haven’t been able to identify the sans and the roman.

Nemo Boards is a skateboard brand specifically for kids. The products are developed by the Berlin-based duo Nemo & Motte, who are themselves keen skaters since their childhood. The skateboards feature the playful illustrations by Motte, and for their logotype, the eccentric typeface JAF Zalamander is used alongside hand-drawn letters.

A piece by graffiti artists Meck, Sory, and the late Nicolas “Smoky” Barclay (a.k.a. Anëmal) from 2015, located on the side of 381-385 5th Street in Oakland, Calif.

The letterforms are modeled after Stack (1970) by Les Lawrence, originally released by Face Photosetting.

Anëml was killed on 15 September 2015 in an automobile accident.
