This catalog was published by GrandPalaisRMN on the occasion of the exhibition D’un seul souffle. Claire Tabouret at the Grand Palais from December 10, 2025, to March 15, 2026.

The catalog showcases the contemporary artist selected to create, in collaboration with the workshops of a master glassmaker, the stained glass windows of the Pentecost in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, as part of its restoration. The history of this project is recounted from a humanistic and universalist perspective.

The graphic design of this book was entrusted to French graphic designer Lisa Sturacci. She used Goudy Oldstyle (ATF) for the titles and Immortel Infra​​​​ (Clément Le Tulle-Neyret, 205TF) for the body text.

Saut Hermès is an annual show jumping competition held at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, sponsored by the fashion company Hermès. For the 2022 edition, the visual identity has been entrusted to Pierre Jeanneau and 34 studio took care of all the variations. Pierre Jeanneau used Molitor by Matthieu Cortat (205TF) and Sang Bleu Kingdom by Ian Party (Swiss Typefaces).

Pompéi is an archaeological exhibition that was shown from 1 July to 29 October 2020 at the Grand Palais, Paris:

New excavations were launched in recent years as part of a large-scale project to secure the unexcavated areas of Pompeii. Some of the extraordinary finds on exhibit, along with virtual reconstructions, are the result of this new research. This work has unearthed large, elegant homes, such as the House with Garden, with its amazing frescoes and graffiti, the House of Leda, which owes its name to a fresco depicting her erotic encounter with the swan in a sensuality that has lost none of its suggestive and provocative quality, and the House of Orion, displaying sumptuous mosaics that depict stories told about the stars. All the discoveries come to life in this immersive exhibition.

To design the Pompéi exhibition catalog, Paper! Tiger! (Aurélien Farina) used the typefaces Injurial (Sandrine Nugue, 205TF), Sainte-Colombe (Yoann Minet, Production Type) and Neue Helvetica (Linotype). This book contains interactive pages with image recognition to access high-resolution visuals and videos. It was published by Réunion des musées nationaux — Grand Palais. From 9 October 2019 to 27 January 2020, the Grand Palais in Paris showed a huge exhibition of works by French painter Toulouse-Lautrec. It was the first major retrospective in the artist’s home country in decades. The show was accompanied by a number of publications, including an illustrated exhibition journal, a bilingual paperback edition with reproductions of all featured images, and a full-featured hardback catalog edited by Stéphane Guégan.

The display typeface used for all these publications is Zangezi. Started in 2018, Daria Cohen’s in-progress design is inspired by Salem, a metal typeface first cast by the Keystone foundry in 1901 – the year of Toulouse-Lautrec’s death. It’s used for headings and quotes, occasionally featuring its italics, too. Zangezi is also used for the exhibition logo that shows the artist’s double name in two stacked lines. The initial letters here touch each other, with unilaterally clipped serifs.

Zangezi is paired with Stanley for text. With its sharp details, Ludovic Balland’s reimagination of Times New Roman is a good fit for the eccentric Zangezi. Captions are set in Aidos. The “semi-proportional typewriter” face by Alexander Rütten nicely blends into the mix, echoing Zangezi’s “Latin” wedge-shaped serifs.

The series Werk-Buch / Œuvre D’Artiste supports published works of artists, photographers and architects in Berne. With the publication Grand Palais A–Z. Ein ABC der Off Kultur it honours the cultural engagement of Atelier Pol in the regional art scene over the years. The handy book follows a strict alphabetic order of keywords which form an ABC of topics around the current situation of independent art spaces in Bern and Switzerland.

The book was edited by Juliane Wolski and Beate Engel and published by the Canton of Bern via Petit Palais – die kleine Edition. The design constitutes the first use of Marc Zenhäusern’s MZ OTR Grotesk. The sans serif is paired with Messina Serif for text and the monospaced Courier New for reproduced correspondence.

Jardins (Gardens) was an exhibition presented at the Galeries nationales du Grand Palais. Paris-based studio Prototype designed the accompanying catalog.

For the book typography, Aurore Jannin and Laurent Pinon chose Trianon, Loïc Sander’s contemporary and expansive interpretation of the Didot genre. The typeface collection is utilized in a range of styles, including small caps and italics. Trianon Text serves for the body copy, with oldstyle figures and its characteristic rounded guillemets. The main text blocks are set justified with shaped corners – a treatment apparently made in reference to the layouts found in the jardin à la française. In order to keep the blocks nicely solid, paragraph breaks are marked by pilcrows (¶) instead of blank lines or indents. Trianon comes in several optical sizes. The sturdy shapes of its Caption cut guarantee good readability also in smaller sizes, like in the marginal notes. Headings are set in Trianon’s Display cut, which is distinguished by greater contrast and sharp, sculpted bracketing.

Trianon is paired with InProgress by Superscript². The sans serif with the eye-catching capital S comes in for subheadings and author’s names. The angular path-like wordmark on the cover is custom lettering.

The Saut Hermès is an annual show jumping competition held at the Grand Palais in Paris, France and sponsored by the fashion company Hermès (brand). The visual identity for this year’s event features Bourrasque. The designer is not yet identified, so I can only speculate about their typographic intentions, but, to me, the unusually steep slant and angled baseline of Bourrasque’s Ouest style brings to mind a jumping horse. This comparison is emphasized in the main poster imagery in which the horse takes on the same stance as the rotated headlines on either side. GT Sectra is used for body copy on the website and perhaps in other material.

“Velázquez au Grand Palais” is a special issue of Télérama magazine. Format 22×30cm, 100 pages. Typefaces: Traulha (Yoann Minet) and Graphik (Commercial Type).
