Transformation is the essence of both our typeface Seiva and Alva Personal Care. In StudioBah’s packaging project, a custom drawn logo is paired with Seiva in order to visually materialize the proposition of a brand that shows the path to a purer and freer life through natural cosmetics.

The fine and delicate strokes, contrasting with voluminous organic forms, appear to translate the power of caring for yourself and the planet in a responsible way.

This Brazilian poetry book, aimed at young audiences, is a publication by Baião, a label of the Todavia publishing house. The Brazilian fonts Seiva and Lygia, alongside Gabriel Furmiga’s drawings, compose a visually rich work, with unique drawings on each page that capture the attention of young readers.

A primeira coisa que existiu: Poesia brasileira para jovens leitores (“The First Thing That Existed: Brazilian Poetry for Young Readers.”) gathers twenty poets who make this little spell of words called poetry happen like no one else. With drawings by Gabriel Furmiga and organization by Bruna Beber and Fabrício Corsaletti, the anthology brings together names such as Arnaldo Antunes, Eliane Potiguara, Ana Martins Marques, Chacal, Gregorio Duvivier, Miriam Alves and Ledusha Spinardi. The design was created by Nathalia Navarro.

Brasil Design Award (BDA) is an award ceremony held by ABEDESIGN, the Association for Brazilian Design Companies. As it is usual within the 'design award world', the event changes its visual identity with every new edition.

For its 2019 edition Miligrama developed the event's visual identity. The ID used a trio of Brazilian fonts, pairing them with thin parallel diagonal lines and a minimalist color palette: black, white and a vivid, avocado-ish green.

Graúna’s heavy weight was used for every possible title and most of the subtitles; The event’s logo and some key information are set in Odisseia, and Margem is used for the running text in the catalog.

Selva Discos, a sublabel of Optimo Music, is “dedicated to unearth and reissue unique and exquisite Brazilian music, both from the past and the future”. The Brasingles series is about “loud 12″ singles with the original song on the A side and a rework on the B side”.

The records stand out with their simple, purely typographic covers featuring big type with mid-word linebreaks, in vibrating color combos. The typeface is dT Jakob by the local dooType foundry (see comments).

Ideia Urbana is an urban planning office based in Curitiba with a decade of experience and projects all over Brazil. They design roads, squares, condominiums and planned neighborhoods aiming the life quality of the inhabitants. I was commissioned for a branding upgrade and collateral design project.

By a co-creation section, some research and sketches we identified Ideia Urbana’s own organic and gestural trace as the conceptual starting point. Their trace starts in sketches, develops in harmony with the terrain, projects the urban flow and materializes in the urban design. “Every idea starts with a simple trace.”

I defined the application of the original symbol in one solid color removing the gradient and adjusted the custom geometric typography of the logo to make it more balanced and elegant. Then, I used the fluid trace both as printed and physical line defining the cuts of the stationery pieces. For the portfolio book cover I adapted one of their two-dimensional plants into a tactile dimension by die cut. The project also pays homage to the legacy of their mentor Mara Paludo and other influences with quotes throughout the collaterals. The new design gives the office a fresh look featuring its uniqueness and consolidating its experience.

Bommer Slab by DooType is used for titles and quotes while Chivo by Omnibus-Type is used for long texts.

Book design for the Brazilian edition of Yoga Vāsiṣṭha by Swami Venkatesananda, translated to Portuguese by Eleonora Meier and published by Satsang Editora.

This is the highest knowledge on consciousness. Audio of the select portion of this monumental scripture opens up the mind and brings forth the closest description of the inexplicable. It is of the greatest help to the spiritual seekers to have a direct experience of the Truth.

DiaTipo São Paulo 2017. Event poster.

DiaTipo São Paulo is the biggest type conference in Brazil. The identity for the 2017 edition explores the concepts of “expansion” and “variation”, inspired by the event’s theme “um novo olhar” (“a new regard”). The huge amount of widths in DJR’s Fit typeface was perfect for the job. It was paired with dT Jakob by Gustavo Soares/DooType.
