Doble Residencia (“Dual Residence“) is a striking book of images. It is a reflection on the human face and the duality conferred by the mask or, ultimately, on the duality shown by the mirror looking the face with or without the mask.

The book comprises of 40 photographs taken by Gustavo Lowry at the house of Juan Carlos Romero, drawing on his personal collection of masks. The project was curated by Maria E. Galera. Ral Veroni oversaw the edition.

It has 96 pages and measures 16×24 cm. Titles are set in Cooper Hewitt and the body text in Andada HT.

This bilingual edition (Spanish-English) was published by Ediciones Urania in collaboration with the Juan Carlos Romero Artist Archive.

Alba is a multilingual literary magazine. It promotes cultural exchange between Latin America and Germany and contains different literary genres such as poetry, theater texts, prose, and interviews in German, Spanish, Guerrero-Nahuatl, Portuguese, and Wampis.

Issue 14 is typeset in Chaco by Rubén Fontana and in Andada ht and Weg by Carolina Giovagnoli (Huerta Tipografica). It was published by alba.lateinamerika lesen e.V., Berlin, in May 2023. Design, layout and typesetting by Carolina Giovagnoli. Printed and bound by Lieblingsdrucker. 17×24 cm, 180 pages. The subtitle and the spine text are in Vertigo FLF.

NMTK is a zine, initiated, designed and published by (type)designer Carolina Giovagnoli. issue B – the second edition – is about a complot. A plot organized by German consonants against the vowels.

All text is set in in Amster Light Roman and Light Italic (designed by Francisco Gálvez Pizzarro and available from Pampa Type) and Carolina’s in-progress typeface ABC der Scheren. Risograph printed, A6 format, 16 pages, self-published in a limited edition of 50 copies. The story is told in English, German, and Spanish.

Artes Vivas is a collection of books set entirely in Francisco Gálvez Pizarro’s Amster (PampaType, 2014). It was made as a student project in the postgraduate course Diplomatura en Artes del Libro (“Arts of the Book”) at Universidad Nacional de las Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The patterns on the covers are typeset using Weg (HT Fonts, 2021). Devised by Carolina Giovagnoli, one of the book designers, Weg is “an experimental type system where legibility isn’t the focus”.

The texts used in this exercise are “Pachamarita. El solticio de una payasa” by Letica Leiva, “Un mechón de tu pelo” by Luis Loyola Cano, and “Las vidas probables” by Pablo D’Elía.

Nhemombaraete Reko Rã’i: fortalecendo a sabedoria (“strengthening knowledge”) is a bilingual book in Guaraní and Portuguese, written by José Verá, and published by Riacho. in partnership with the Association for Studies and Projects with Indigenous and Minority Peoples.

This book is the result of three years of collaborative work, and many others in the production of images. It brings together stories and visionary drawings of the greatest Mbya Guarani made in Tekoa Yvyty Porã, or “Campo Molhado”, Barra do Ouro Indigenous (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil).

“It is not easy for me to draw, because if the message does not reach me, I do not work. I have to wait for the message. If the message does not arrive, I do other work. If I am doing other work and the message arrives, I have to stop and draw the picture” says José Verá.

The origin of the sun, the moon, the stars, and their entities, the territorial life forms, plants, human and non-human animals life. The stories were dictated by Verá to the Guarani teachers, who later reviewed and translated into the Portuguese language. The book was built collaboratively, through visits to the community with printed and digital prototypes to decide the publication criteria.

Gran Desmesura Nacional is an essay by Vicente Mario di Maggio on the poem La Rozaida by Emilio P. Corbiere. The book also includes the full text of La Peroneida by the poet Eduardo Orenstein.

The book was printed in an edition of 100 copies. It has 96 pages and measures 14×20 cm. Edited by Ral Veroni, the typographic composition was provided by Gustavo Ibarra using the Andada ht and Futura typeface families.
