Burg Hotel is a place to celebrate life uninhibitedly. A legendary place of longing in Oberlech, which has always had a reputation for the fantastical. From 2019 to 2022 Solid & Bold have been working with the elegant resort on their branding which heavily features Morion. For the restaurant logo, the designers modified the B and g. Throughout the identity, Morion is supported by Ballpoint Script and Moderat.

With analog photographs by Judith Sévy and text by Clara Merlin, Loyasse, mon amour is a book that tells not only the story of Lyon’s most beautiful cemetery, but also that of some of its buried residents, and what the living souls are up to while the city goes to the dogs.

48 pages, Riso-printed in Vaulx-en-Vlein by Toner Toner. The cover was screen-printed by Sacrés caractères at Atelier Garage, Lyon, and the book was bound with copper thread by Judith, Clara and Cecilia at publisher Papier Charbon.

The unique design consists of a cardboard sleeve made of three pieces, laser-cut and screen-printed by hand, plus six double-sided cards printed on 160g/m² recycled paper, covering all twelve months of the year. The sleeve is reusable: just replace the cards to keep it going year after year.

For the fonts, we used Signal Compressed by Production Type, Patron by Milieu Grotesque, and Ballpoint Script by Carmel Type Co.

As a bonus, a genuine vintage-style ad signed by the atelier is hidden on the back for the curious.

Le Petit Ballon offers a new way to discover and buy wine through monthly subscriptions and personalized recommendations according to subscribers’ preferences.

Rosé is a variety closely related to the summer in France and has been one of the most anticipated by its audience. Accordingly, their goal for the 2022 edition of Batti Batti was to create a top-notch product that would surprise and help them capture a new public this season.

From the beginning, our purpose was to design more than a label and create an identity that could evolve each edition and make recognizable some of the wine’s elements.

With the idea of creating the image of a fun, trendy, and easy-to-drink wine, we sought to reflect the spirit of summer, enhancing it with a modern and current approach to give it an urban appearance that would distinguish it.

Putting the focus on its name – a Provençal expression that alludes to the heartbeat when meeting someone again – we thought of the meeting of summer as a perfect excuse to match this wine.

From its first edition, we established parameters that would bring together upcoming editions. Thus, the two words that make up its name are positioned face to face, giving visual rhythm to a round label that contains each year’s designs.

For the 2022 edition, we opted for a gradient reminiscent of sunrises and sunsets in summer combined with a typography that recalls classic French wines that adds balance and an unexpected twist to the proposal.

With this edition, we managed to surprise its current public and involve new followers into the universe of rosé wine with a modern identity, that honors its legacy and makes summer beat with its fresh spirit.

Korai Kitchen is a Bangladeshi restaurant in Jersey City owned and run by a mother and daughter team. The restaurant was born out of a mother’s love for cooking and her ambition to make her dreams a reality. The visual identity intends to place emphasis on this by showing Amma (mom) who actually makes the food while proudly displaying an all Bangladeshi menu. For a long time, many Bangladeshi immigrants would come to the US and open Indian restaurants or cook in Indian kitchens because that is what Americans were more familiar with.

The identity is a celebration of Bangladeshi cuisine and culture that has too often been grouped into and overshadowed by Indian culture. To make this distinction more prominent, I used Bengali script and phrases as part of the messaging. We further made these distinctions by using phrases such as ‘No Chicken Tikka Masala’ so as to proudly claim that they won’t be serving a very popular ‘Indian’ dish.

The logo uses Ballpoint Script and Mabry. Most text is set in Sharp Grotesk, with Hind Siliguri used for the bits in Bengali.

Alexander Bather is a photographer from Manchester with an amazing body of work and a beautiful eye. Here we’re showing a few of the key components that make up the new modular system for Alex’s identity. Alex has a distinguished style in his approach to photography, which helped us unify the identity through ‘stylistic resemblance’ taking cues from an older generation with a modern twist.

Throughout all items, Alexander’s name is set in ToY (Out of the Dark), using ligatures for AL and TH; above his name, the item is specified once again in capitals, using Armag (Blaze Type). Smaller texts are set in Neue Haas Grotesk (Linotype/Commercial Type).

The script on the “thank you” card is Ballpoint Script (Drew Melton).

When Wellington's iconic Venetian bar and restaurant Ombra changed ownership in early 2018, Gary at the Gas Project was commissioned to re-brand the business.

When Ombra needed a printer, Colourcraft was put forward and the first two jobs off the ranks were a set of business cards and vouchers. We printed both onto a premium 320gsm board, then gold foiled.

Moving away from a traditional sports bar look and feel, Melbourne-based sports bar Kicks creates a contemporary space, welcoming to people of all ages, from loyal sports fans to local students hoping to kick back and play a game of pool after class.

Inspired by 1980s sports and gaming, the branding and signage for this space utilise a bright colour palette, geometric graphic forms and a playful typography built with Sideshow and Hardy (both released by and available from The Designers Foundry).

The recurring fonts are Guillemet, a modernized gothic by Johan Mossé, and Kabel Black in all caps, with a stemless initial ‘E’. The notes accompanying the singles appear to use a condensed (custom?) variation of Fette Fraktur (cf. Schmalfette Fraktur) with some romanized glyphs [edit: It’s Luxus Gothic, see comment by Riley], paired with a yet unidentified sans serif.

Ever since 1966, a year even before colour television swamped German households, a grand jury in the country awards a gold plated camera to actors, musicians and entertainers.

For the design of the 50th anniversary edition of “The Golden Camera”, the task was to depict the ‘stress field’ between two centuries without it feeling dated. The modern typeface GT Walsheim provided the basis of this. Two type styles are being used prominently on all printed materials. A look back is cast to the beginnings of the Golden Camera with the type “Fünfzig” (meaning ‘fifty’ in German), set in Ballpoint Script.
