The official South African website of the global manufacturing corporation BIC rises above and sets an example for its peer localisation sites with pristine crisp photography, pixel-perfect web layout elements, and a strong branding implementation including its typography.

BIC South Africa’s main landing page falls on a welcoming image displaying an array of pens, stationary lighters and razors, with a BIC mascot, logo, and title message set in CJ Type’s Dunbar Tall in ExtraBold style. The sleek and sharp lettershapes of Dunbar reflect the utilitarian simplicity and efficiency of BIC’s products with a hint of quirk such as the lighter buttons or the Dunbar letter e.

Dunbar is consistently applied through headings and product category landing page titles with the body paragraphs set in Julieta Ulanovsky’s Montserrat in a mix of its Medium and Regular weights. The website menus are set in Montserrat Regular and Bold styles.

Interestingly, upon entering the shopping pages, the website defaults all its fonts including the menus, headers and body text to Impallari Type’s Dosis typeface. Other localised sites of BIC default to Noto Sans, however several of these websites currently land on a “coming soon” page.

CJ Type’s founder shared that “they licensed Cyrillic in addition to Latin” and “they requested Kazakh glyphs” – possibly for future localized uses on the webpages for Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.

The CSR pen donation initiative page uses Avenir and the handwriting font Journal in addition to the Dunbar and Montserrat brand fonts.

Branding from South African localized site rolled out to social media graphics

Steal a Brainrot is a 2025 multiplayer video game developed by SpyderSammy and released on Roblox on May 16, 2025. In the game, players buy and steal Brainrots, characters based on the Italian brainrot meme, which generate income over time. Owned by DoBig Studios, Steal a Brainrot is the only Roblox game to have surpassed 25 million concurrent users (CCU) and is the second to have surpassed 20 million CCU, the first being Grow a Garden.

The purchase font is Comic Sans, and the brainrots names are in Source Sans. The names of the main game brainrots name is in Montserrat.

Friendship Bakery & Desserts is a high-end and modern bakery chain that specializes in offering trending cakes in Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa (Dong Nai), and Thu Dau Mot (Binh Duong). The logo is based on Magic Retro, with Montserrat used for  “Bakery & Desserts”.

Kasey Fanton is a photographer and mentor who focuses on capturing real wedding moments. She helps other photographers build businesses that align with their values. Kasey also hosts a podcast about living a life that feels true to who you are

The identity by Day Well Made appears to use Kavitta from Pixesia Studio as the basis for Kasen Fanton’s logo and primary headline. Montserrat is used for the navigational elements and selected subheading. Additionally, the website uses Quicksand for the body copy.

Sutor Basket is the basketball club of Montegranaro, Italy, currently competing in Serie B. Throughout the year, I was responsible for all graphics related to the league season. These included player introductions, fixtures, gameday visuals, score updates, MVP announcements, and more.

In addition to social media communication, a matchday booklet was created for home games. In DIN A4, the booklet included the league table and fixtures of the day, team rosters and upcoming events. It also featured a special interview with a team member.

Design of a calligram for the podcast dedicated to the book Una peripecia fotográfica por España / A Photographic Scramble through Spain by Charles Clifford.

Translated by María Luisa Balseiro and published by Ediciones de la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Ediciones Universidad de Granada, and the Hispanic Society of America, the book reproduces countless images captured by British photographer Charles Clifford in the first half of the 19th century. Originally published as a 48-page booklet about 1862, Clifford conceived what basically is the first photobook in Spain.

Visual identity assets designed for the Instituto Guaicuy –

a non-profit entity that emerged from the fight to preserve the Rio das Velhas basin and its activities are dedicated to defending the environment. […] Its actions are guided by popular activism in the search for ways of life that promote socially fair and environmentally sustainable coexistence between people, water and territory.

The campaign graphics were used for an event by the Comissões de Pessoas Atingidas das regiões 4 e 5 (“Committees of affected people from regions 4 and 5” in Southeast Brazil. This meeting took place in December 2024 in Curvelo, Minas Gerais, and was dedicated to the fight for full and effective reparation for people affected by the 2019 Vale dam collapse in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais.

Montserrat Alternates was chosen to write the project titles. Its charismatic design in letters like E, M, and A, along with the mix of uppercase and lowercase characters, added personality to the pieces while aligning with Guaicuy’s branding.

The motto on the tote bag is adapted from a quote by the artist and researcher Isabela Frade. It reads “Em água de peixe grande, é necessário ser cardume”, which translates to something like “When in waters with big fish, it is necessary to form a school”.

The cardume (school of fish) is comprised of various native fish species which are depicted with the Portuguese and Latin names.

Roboto Condensed proved highly effective for long names. For titles and highlighted lists, I selected Montserrat.

Investment and real estate company Künzel Group received a rebranding from Munich based agency Pixelperfektion. Creating an aura of quality and tradition was particularly important. Pixelperfection says:

The new branding was intended to give the young company Künzel Group the character of “Heritage”. This concept stands for tradition, excellence and a touch of luxury that the brand wants to embody. This was achieved by color selection, logo design and typography, capturing a feeling and reflecting values ​​that are usually found in established companies. Despite its young age, the brand creates a connection to a high-quality, classic and elegant style.

The company’s new logo integrates a signet out of the initials of the company's founder. The symmetrical and mirrored design symbolizes balance and trust, while the use of the initials adds a personal touch that speaks of accountability.

Relais Display, designed by Alexander Rütten and Olivia Wood from Ligature Type, contributes to the elegance and value that radiates from the logo. Relais Display is used as the primary headline font on the Künzel Group website and also in other media. It’s supported by Montserrat, Helvetica Now, and Künstler-Schreibschrift.

Tuppence as the primary typeface for the Weber Ranch Vodka brand

The Weber Ranch label by Round 2 Spirits uses Tuppence by Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich as the primary typeface for the branding of their first product, Weber Ranch Vodka.

On the labels, Tuppence is paired with Mono45.

The website combines Tuppence for headlines with Mono45 for the menu and Montserrat for text.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced three Trump-branded watches on the Truth Social platform, each with the “TRUMP” logo set in Myriad Semibold. He invited readers to visit the Trump Watches website where the three watches may be pre-ordered for $499, $799, and $100,000.

A note warns potential buyers that “[t]he images shown are for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product”, so at the time of the announcement is not known whether Myriad will be used on the actual products.

“Watches” is added in tracked-out caps from Montserrat.

Around 2015, Atipo designed the visual identity of Mamen Diego using Noe Display and Montserrat. From the design studio’s website:

Her style, without renouncing to the latest trends in interior design, moves between the shabby chic, the ethnic and the colonial. The logo is solved with the font Noe Display, an expressive and elegant typeface, of great contrasts and forceful serifs that convey personality and a contained elegance. The font palette is completed with the Montserrat font that provides neutrality and clarity in the information.

The color palette chosen is wide, delicate and harmonious, and refers to noble materials and pastel colors and ends up to complete a luminous, personal, delicate identity and a little vintage.

As of 2024, Mamen Diego’s website is no longer available.

Type designer Jordan Bell alerted me to an excellent use of by Health Camp, a Waco, Texas, landmark restaurant serving burgers, shakes, and malts.

Bungee is used extensively throughout the identity, from menus, cups, and napkin holders to the shirts and hats worn by employees (also available to enthusiastic patrons). Bungee is a typeface largely inspired by neon signs, and it’s fulfilling to see it come full circle in a neon sign hanging above the counter.

I was happy to see all of the places where Health Camp used Bungee, but I’m even happier to see the place where they didn’t. The exterior of the building is completely Bungee-free, and retains its classic illuminated signage and beverage advertisements.

This creates a fantastic blend of old and new—a clean, fresh identity that feels at home inside a place with 75+ years of history.

Monpti is short for "mon petit" (my little one), and it’s a nickname for your not-so-secret stash. With Germany's legalization in 2024, we aim to bring a bit more self-assurance, a bit more style, and a bit more happiness to your daily vibe.

Until recently, it was unimaginable to wear an accessory openly celebrating personal cannabis use. Now, it has found its rightful place: freely embraced in living rooms, parks, and most importantly, in the public eye.

The brand typeface chosen for these “smoking essentials for modern stoners” is Motter Ombra, supported by Montserrat on the website.

With Lovee Photo is a wedding photography service that excels in capturing beautiful moments while ensuring a fun and stress-free experience for the clients.

With Lovee Photo applies Orange Squash as the logo and main typeface on their website. Additionally, Montserrat is used for body text, and the occasional handwritten texts are displayed in Des Montilles.

Gaya Italic, paired with Libre Baskerville and Montserrat for the graphic identity of the exhibition James Ensor. Inspired by Brussels at the KBR in Brussels.

Launched c. 2020, Daamudi is a high-end kitchen-to-table cookware brand which aims to present attractive and sustainable furniture, handcrafted in France.

Decentriq is a provider of confidential computing specialised in reports, data and security. To reaffirm its identity, Decentriq partnered with OCIO, embarking on a quest to reconnect with its Swiss essence while embracing the unfolding future.

A rejuvenated identity, pulsating with sci-fi photographic touches that echo Decentriq's clarity and leadership. Picture precision, vibrance, and surprise were all brought to life with a distinctive palette of teal and red. At the heart of this transformation lies a vibrant photographic style that captures the essence of Decentriq's evolution.

In this journey towards revitalizing its identity, Decentriq didn't stop at just a visual makeover. Every detail, down to the typography, was meticulously crafted to reflect the brand's Swiss heritage fused with futuristic aspirations. Headlines boldly proclaim their presence with the sleek Montserrat, exuding confidence and strength. Meanwhile, the smaller text, where every word matters, is decked with the elegant yet practical Inter, ensuring clarity and legibility without compromising on style. This harmonious blend of fonts not only enhances the visual appeal but also reinforces Decentriq's commitment to precision and innovation in every pixel.

Mixologist and entrepreneur Frankie Snobel made waves in the world of drinks when her cocktails-on-tap business, Tipplesworth, was acquired by Diageo of Smirnoff fame in 2019. Now she’s back with a new innovative business.

The Drinks Bureau offers “seriously tasty cocktails” – packaged in in cute colorful cans. Snobel teamed up with Nick Kirby of Storefast Solutions, an expert in canning who was batching premium cocktails back when it was practically unheard of. Together, the drinks enthusiasts launched a product aimed at parties, event catering, hotel minibars, takeaways and beyond. In addition to cans, The Drinks Bureau also offers larger party boxes and frozen pops. The initial range comprised Spicy Margarita, Espresso Martini, Passion Fruit Martini, the non-alcoholic Shirley Temple, and the 5% abv Dirty Shirley.

Whether it’s cans, boxes or ice pops, there’s never much space, certainly not in terms of width. So if you want to made the product names shine – most of which are longer than “Gin & Tonic” – a space-saving yet attractive font is what you need. That’s where Origin Super Condensed comes into play. Just as the name suggests, this typeface accomodates a lot of characters per inch. In fact, it was originally designed for this purpose, as a custom solution for a major French retailer.

The Drinks Bureau uses Origin Super Condensed Black, the heaviest out of five weights, in all caps. Flavor names have a star-shaped dot on the i, to add some extra spice. The article in the brand name is raised and underlined, as a nod to the mid-20th century aesthetic.

The seal-like variant of the logo asked for slightly wider letterforms. Origin Super Condensed was stretched for this purpose. As the letterforms are so tall, they can withstand some tinkering. For a premium solution, though, better get in touch.

The website picks up the Swinging London theme, in terms of colors and images. Origin Super Condensed is used for headlines and supported by Montserrat for text.
