A burek is a traditional baked pastry with a thin, flaky crust filled potato, cheese, or meat, often served with a yogurt drink called ayran. Holy Burek was founded to “reintroduce the beloved Balkan burek to a new generation.” With the help of a lively, witty branding system from Zagreb-based Studio Hrvatin, it’s established an international presence, with locations in Croatia, France, the US, and the UAE. Austin Clarke was one of Ireland’s leading writers. Though he wrote novels, plays, and memoirs and was a cofounder of Belfast’s Lyric Theatre, he’s best known for poems that employ complex patterns of assonance and half rhyme, techniques he drew from his deep knowledge of classical Irish language poetry. An Post issued this stamp to mark the fiftieth anniversary of his death in 1974. Designed by David Pakenham at So Studio using Ballinger Mono; first day cover (not shown) also features An Post Sans, the Irish post office’s proprietary typeface.

Homolobby by Krzysztof Tomasik is a vivid narrative that weaves together the lives of a group of men born in the late 19th century, revealing what life was like for homosexual actors in the Second Polish Republic and during the war. The book reveals the backstage of theater, cinema, and cabaret, where themes of non-normative sexuality were subtly conveyed.

The book was designed by Polish book designer Marcin Hernas of studio Tessera. The playful layout combines Ergon for titles and pagination, while the main text is set Dashiell Text.

Rayon Vert is a design studio for bold and playful objects and luminaires based in Bordeaux, France. The visual identity was created by the French studio Forme Brute and features EE Rajola, designed by errorerror.studio. EE Rajola is used in its Plena version, slightly modified to give the logotype a unique touch. It is paired with Auger Mono designed by Max Phillips and Seán Mongey from the type foundry Signal, which is used as the corporate typeface.

Nestled beneath the San Jacinto mountains, the Yara Hotel is a 10-room boutique desert oasis in the heart of Palm Springs. Inspired by the natural beauty of the desert, the hotel blends Balinese and Mediterranean influences, with artisanal motifs and light, airy interiors. The identity conveys a sense of tranquility through its warm palette, simplistic typography, and sense of balance.

With an emphasis on providing peaceful retreats to escape the fast-paced world, a series of original illustrations was crafted to bring a sense of serenity to the brand while complementing the organic materials of the property. The design system includes everything from wayfinding and mural work, to menus and merchandise, enhancing the allure of a relaxing desert sanctuary.

In developing Yara Hotel’s visual identity, the goal was to evoke an artisanal texture that bridges hand-drawn illustration with the hotel’s natural materials. To complement the custom logo lettering, ABC Arizona Flare introduces a modern yet classical tone, with wedge-like details and a flexible, organic character. Metallophile Sp8 enhances the hand-drawn quality of the illustrations, bringing warmth and a distinctly human touch. Tenon grounds the system with clean, open geometry, offering clarity and structure. Together, these typefaces create a balanced dialogue between the natural and the refined.

Matre is a new Oslo-based furniture company that “creates products to be loved and to last for generations.” They reissue Norwegian design classics and provide a platform for emerging design talent. Umbel is a Detroit-based acoustics studio that “approaches acoustics through the lens of shape,” creating acoustically superior spaces by intelligent deployment of the structure’s own materials and elements. The mark is formed entirely of typographic elements and can be typed at a keyboard; slashes and backslashes represent sound waves. Logo and branding by Signal Type Foundry, featuring Signal’s own Reckham and Ballinger Mono typefaces. Website designed and coded by Post Studio.

LePerco is an artisanal and independent coffee roaster located in Narbonne, in the south of France. Its network of ethical and organic coffee producers around the world as well as its rigorous selection and quality control throughout the entire production chain enables LePerco to create unique and exclusive products.

LePerco's roasting activity was historically linked to the record shop activity of its founder, Pierre-Marie Camper, who brilliantly combines the two worlds, enhancing coffee tastings with atypical musical discoveries. While relying on LePerco’s unique DNA, marked by the coffee/music duality, the new visual identity focuses on the roasting activity.

LePerco’s graphic universe revolves around patterns that have been created using two main geometric shapes. These shapes can evoke the leaves of coffee trees, coffee cherries and roasted beans, a symbol of LePerco’s total control over the production chain. The primary typography of this visual identity is Milanesa Serif, from the Sudtipos foundry, supported by various members of the Ballinger series by Signal.

Simple, geometric shapes, large, expressive typography and the distinctive, relaxing color of blue created the visual identity for a unique project: a pro-frequency campaign for the city of Sopot, Poland, for the local elections, held in April 2024.

Sopot joins the ranks of Polish cities that are activating residents to participate in local elections through a pro-frequency campaign. The Sopot campaign will launch in mid-March under the slogan "You live, you vote, you decide." Specially designed graphics will appear in public spaces and social media, among other places. The aim of the campaign is to reach the widest possible group of residents of the Sopot resort and get them to actively participate in the April elections.

The project was intended to be understandable to both young and older audiences and to evoke positive emotions. There are a lot of older people living in Sopot, and the City wanted to build electoral awareness also among young people who live and exist here on a daily basis. We wanted to encourage all residents to go to the polls and decide about their neighborhood. It was certainly a difficult task to make the campaign design reach every group of residents. The city also wanted to raise a strong awareness of the possibility of actively deciding about their small homelands. Yet, as tourists are not this campaign’s target audience, we focused on aspects of living in Sopot that are close to everyday life.

Visual identity for The Stow Brothers, an independent estate agency based in East London. Studio.Build designed a custom typeface in two weights, Stow Light and Regular. Typographic furniture from Heneczek was used as signposts throughout the brand refresh. For the supporting typography, Studio.Build chose Styrene B and Ballinger Mono. From the case study:

The core DNA of the branding was first identified and preserved. It was unanimously agreed that the original Stow Stencil typeface was a vital element, but should be updated and refined — resulting in Stow Light. Building on these foundations, a new suite of visual assets, custom type and supporting typefaces was combined with a refined colour palette. […] Work with The Stow Brothers is ongoing, with a printed ‘Culture Book’ completed as a leave-behind for new vendor enquiries, and for new staff.

The World Ocean Day Conference, organised by Fair Seas, brought together ocean advocates, government representatives, industry professionals, and key stakeholders in Ireland. The primary focus of the conference sessions revolved around the designation and management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). The aim was to learn from global best practices and collectively map out the next steps for protecting Ireland's oceans.

Fair Seas requested an identity for the conference that would celebrate the ocean, appeal to their target audience and complement their own visual identity. It needed to be memorable and adaptable across multiple print and digital applications.

The ‘World of Oceans’ concept relates to the fact that the ocean covers 70% of our planet and was built around a series of experimental watercolour images. These provided a unique palette of colour and texture and formed the basis of the identity. The vibrancy and character of the images set the tone for the what was a memorable few days.

Hellfire Restaurant offers a unique dining experience in Dublin, Ireland. The identity was designed by CI Studio, using all-caps CoFo Meteor as the primary typeface. They write:

The dramatic typography, playful copy and punchy colour palette all have reference to the hell and fire aesthetics. It also mirrors Chef Rapisardi’s passion for this style of cooking and his fiery, Italian larger-than-life personality.

In 2021, Focus Ireland launched LEAP (Lived experienced Ambassador Programme), which aims to empower people who have experienced homelessness to share their stories, dispel stereotypes and give authentic insights. This helps inform the work Focus undertakes, the general public and policymakers.

Focus Ireland has five ambassadors: Catherine Keenan, Paul Geoghegan, Kelly Ann Byrne, Scott Buckley, and Stephanie Clarke. Since the launch, they have featured in print and broadcast media and spoken to policymakers locally, in the Oireachtas and to EU research groups.

For this project, the ambassadors worked with Dr Maria Quinlan, who guided them through a research methodology called Photovoice—a therapeutic process using photography to help people who have experienced trauma. Through this process, the ambassadors accessed their subconscious thoughts and emotions while experiencing homelessness. They shared found imagery and personal photographs in a group setting and spoke about the feelings they provoked. The book Journey Home is a record of this process.

In the text, the ambassadors describe the process as a ‘very gentle way to reflect on’ their past experiences, and the visual goal was to echo this. The intent was to give the ambassadors a voice, amplify their stories and represent cadence through typographic scale. Some of the photographs in the book were taken by the ambassadors and were not to be edited in any way. This constraint influenced how the images were used in terms of size and placement and further informed the book's design.

The finished piece is case-bound and thread-sewn, contains 128pp at 168mm × 240mm, is covered in grey linen with a white foil title, Colorplan Citrine 270gsm endpapers, printed on Munken Pure Rough 120gsm and set in LL Circular and Dashiell Text.

Changers Book is a book documenting the philosophy and story behind Changers Hub, a Swedish innovation house that aims to democratise innovation.

Changers Hub is an innovation house in Alby, Botkyrka and a hub in Stureplan. In addition to the co-working space, courses, inspirational lectures, events and idea coaching are also offered. The book features rough cut edges, and a transparent dust cover featuring caps from a condensed style of Pressio, additionally elongated. In the interior, Roc Grotesk is paired with Matrix II.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is an agency of the Irish Department of Transport, established in 2005 to make Irish roads safer. Its remit includes driver testing and licensing, the development and enforcement of driver regulations and vehicle standards, research, education, outreach, and advocacy. Its website, developed by BBDO Dublin, hosts a huge array of information, downloadable and online forms for the use of commercial drivers, hauliers, and the general driving public, all consistently designed for easy accessibility.
