Edmonton/London. Apprenticed as printer and bookbinder. Worked at
Stephenson Blake from 1863. By 1896, he had designed
many influential ornament types, including Ribbon,
Floral, Fillets, and
Spray [Inland
Printer, Aug 1896]. Later credited for designing
Windsor [Bertheau 1995] [Millington 2002] which was released after
his death, but there is no clear evidence of this.
Served as SB’s chief clerk in Sheffield and from c.1873 as
manager of the London office. “For almost thirty years Elisha
Pechey was the mainspring of innovation and development,
technically and commercially.” [Millington 2002]
