A very similar design is shown as Brandywine
in a 1968 Lettergraphics catalog and in their
New LetterGraphics Styles 1969. Also shown in
Phil’s Photo’s Homage to the Alphabet (1985) and, as
Liquor,
in an undated FotoStar catalog, both times with several alternates
(for ‘GIOSrsz&’). The differences between Jeanette
and Brandywine are most pronounced in some of the
capitals. It is not clear which came first. Homage to the
Alphabet shows a Brandywine Bold which also goes
under the names Gaston
and Charade.

Bob Alonso’s Lorraine Script (2000) is based on Gonzales Jeanette. Elvira Slysh created Astron, a digital version based on Brandywine including Cyrillics (ParaType/ParaGraph, 1991). In Astron, the letters don’t join up. There is also a limited freebie by Richard William Mueller, Brandy Script (1993).
