SDR Capital, named after the initials of founder Shefali Roy, is a London-based family office investing in finance, technology, and AI. The brand identity uses typography to express a practice grounded in conviction, precision, and a deliberate refusal to follow convention. The visual language, spanning identity and a pared-back single-page website, is built for a firm that moves through capital on its own terms.

General Sans (Frode Helland, Indian Type Foundry) provides the foundation: geometric, precise, composed. Xanh Mono (Lam Bao & Duy Dao, Yellow Type Foundry) counters it: monospaced logic that nods to the sectors SDR operates in, inflected by serifs that introduce warmth and wit. Together, they hold the identity's essential tension: composed, yet restless.

The logomark stands apart. Millionaire Script (Raphaël Verona, Altiplano) draws on the calligraphic lineage of English Roundhand and George Bickham the Elder, set against “SDR.” in General Sans. The two typefaces are joined by a single dot: the full stop above becoming the tittle of the i below. Audacity and discipline, connected by a point.

Based in Vienna, Austria, Off Office developed the identity of the annual festival around the use of Millionaire Script and Roman (Altiplano), paired with ABC Diatype (Dinamo). The combination of Diatype’s modern efficiency with the baroque–neoclassical expressiveness of Millionaire, all brought together through remarkably precise and thoughtful typographic composition, perfectly reflects the festival’s ambition:

The festival crosses the boundaries of classical music, featuring a world premiere by choreographer Sasha Waltz and an immersive electro performance.

Spring and Easter stand for the reawakening of life. In this spirit, and with reference to the 2024 festival’s focus on Italy, the design brings marble statues of Roman fountains to life. For the first time, they feel the heat of the sun, the freshness of the water, and—after centuries of rigidity—finally move to the music of the great Italian masters.

Millionaire Script by Altiplano is in the spotlight at Chalet Estrid. For their latest campaign, skin care brand Estrid hosted an exclusive getaway for a select group of influencers. How could we say no – who doesn’t dream of becoming a millionaire?

Millionaire Script stands out by combining elegance with a warm, inviting tone through its calligraphic structure. Versatile by nature, it has seamlessly conveyed messages for luxury brands while also lending itself beautifully to editorial design across various themes – architecture, photography, gastronomy, and more.

Nombril is a magazine that highlights contemporary stories from the perspectives of artists and authors. It aims to be free, collaborative, and evolving.

The Nombril Movement is a free exercise initiated by the members of Studio Vacarme. It was born of an attraction to the world of the imaginary, a desire to bring people together, and a desire to express, without constraint, a shared passion for art, photography and writing. Each Nombril magazine will have an abstract theme that highlights contemporary stories. These subjects are the subject of short stories, typographic creations and graphic experiments. Alongside them are photographs, illustrations and CGI art chosen to correspond to the given theme.

Texts are set in G2 TGR (Gruppo Due) and ABC Laica (Dinamo), with captions and details in Millionaire Script (Altiplano) and headlines in Bastardo Grotesk (Giulia Boggio). The bold cursive used for the logo is either custom or from a yet unidentified typeface.

Newsprint brochure designed by Rimasùu for the participation of design studio dach&zephir and Antonin Mongin in the 35th Festival International de Mode, de Photographie et d’Accessoires de Mode de Hyères (France, 2020) with their collection Bijoux de Têtes.

Last Christmas, Studio Roses in collaboration with Isabel Rotger crafted a campaign for Casa Camper hotels in Barcelona and Berlin, celebrating the B-side of holidays. Adding a striking digital twist, Millionaire Script and Italic were reimagined with a pixelated rendering that contrasts beautifully with their warm, calligraphic heritage – resulting in a distinctive and unexpected visual language.

Millionaire Script combined with Millionaire Italic Uppercase by Altiplano Typefaces takes center stage in the identity for Maggiorata, a restaurant in Barcelona dedicated to “la bella cucina italiana”. Just like the maggiorata, Millionaire is vivid and sensual. Its calligraphy-inspired structure exudes human warmth. When displayed in large size, its letters form an image that is both fluid and elegant, capable of enhancing a space.

Neue Montreal by Pangram Pangram, on the other hand, brings all the qualities of a grotesk typeface to ensure menu readability at smaller sizes. The type palette is rounded off with Signerica, a wide informal handwriting face by Mans Greback.

According to Studio Roses:

The challenge was to craft an identity that embodied the essence of the Maggiorata – the archetype of Italian femininity, as iconic as Monica Bellucci or Sofia Loren. We wanted to reinterpret this imagery for the culinary world, moving beyond the traditional mamma or nonna to showcase a more confident, sensual side of Italian cooking.

The inspiration came from two sources: the striking contrast of the Maggiorata’s personality and her cinematic allure. From this, we developed a brand full of curves, movement, and charisma.

Who is Maggiorata? Maggiorata speaks with a distinct voice, blending Italian words with bold charm. She leaves her presence felt in unexpected ways – a note, a gesture, or a playful touch – proving that even unseen, she’s unforgettable.

Double Clutch is a “content platform for the classic car connoisseur. (...) From road-testing rare treasures to revisiting timeless icons, we deliver a feed that takes pride in savouring the epitome of automotive culture and sophisticated style.”

Their visual identity by Unlearn Studio draws inspiration from the retro automotive world. Typography, color, and layout work together to evoke a sense of vintage elegance and sophistication, capturing both the heritage and enduring beauty of classic automotive design.

The combination of Millionaire Script (whose lowercase letters match the uppercase ones of Millionaire Italic) with OC Highway enhances the nostalgic dimension of the typographic language. OC Highway is a digital version of the historic alphabet used for road signs in the United States. The wordmark is set in Gatwick.

Advent, Advent: Zürich’s Best – Xmas Fest is a series of gastronomical pop-up events by Phamily First (Julien Dô Lê Pham, Paris) with the help of Pascal Grob, Zürich Tourism, and Zmirov Communication (Paris): Zürich’s best chefs, restaurants and wines for a three day pop-up program in Paris celebrating the spirit of Xmas.

The main typeface, Citizen Grotesk (Altiplano.xyz), is a sans serif inspired by the Swiss tradition (International Style)—unique and full of character: this is far from a neutral grotesk. But then again, how could one even speak of neutrality in today’s world?

Citizen Grotesk is paired with Millionaire Script to highlight the gastronomic event (“Chef-fes, Vins”), while the bistronomic event features a second script typeface, Monaako, lending this second concept (Action Burger) with a more relaxed and casual tone.

The Bad Design Club is an initiative by Ryan Huang, aiming to create a space for students to learn, get together, and just have fun. On his website, Huang writes:

For the three years that I’ve been studying design at my school, there has never been an active graphic design club. As I’m getting closer and closer to graduation, I’m realizing it’s now or never to start the club that I’ve always hoped to have for future students.

Posting posters up on the precious real estate of the art building’s walls and bulletin boards became an important way to get word out about the club, presenting a need for me to create designs that would appeal to other designers.

The logo is based on Romie Italic, modified by Ryan. The branding is set in Romie (designed by Margot Lévêque) alongside Neue Haas Grotesk. The first poster features Millionnaire (from Altiplano Typefaces) in the background.

Cafe KYVE in Seoul opened in September 2024. The communication – packaging, signage, and social media – is based on the combination of Millionaire Script and Roman with a custom blocky logo. The contrast between the bold letters of the logo and the refinement of the Millionaire typeface, all combined with a very simple layout, gives a clean, direct, and no-frills look.

Quilo is a single edition bookish publication conceived by Mico Toledo and designed by Porto Rocha (Natalia Oledzka and Victor Carvalho). It brings together the work of 38 contemporary photographers and six writers from Brazil in an unprecedented collection of some of the country’s best documentary photography and writing.

Over the past few years, conservative ideologies have had a negative impact on Brazil’s cultural environment. Against this backdrop, documenting the numerous communities that inhabit the country's political landscape, the magazine can be seen as an act of rebellion or a testament of love and resilience – a sanctuary in print. It celebrates the diverse creative communities of Brazil and serves as a counterstrike against the growing extremism and intolerance in the country, under the oppressive rule of the former president.

Spanning across 300 pages, the magazine is an amalgamation of short stories and visuals from over 40 contributors such as Jonathas de Andrade, Valda Nogueira, Rodrigo Oliveira, Stefanie Moshammer to name a few. It takes readers on a meandering journey from the northernmost reaches of the country to its southern tip. With each section introduced by writers from that region, readers get a glimpse into the folklore of the country. It strives to add depth and texture to the stories, while oscillating between photographs that capture moments frozen in time overlayed with grainy texture, muted tones and words that evoke emotion to guide the reader to the heart of the narrative.

The editorial design and visual language captures the essence of Brazil in the present day. The layouts, inspired by Brazilian Modernist design vernacular, are raw and bold. While the neutral and approachable kraft paper cover speaks to a more rustic side of the country. The typography combines the classic serif Ivar Text with Scto Grotesk B, a semi-condensed neogrotesque with expressive details, creating a feeling that is both contemporary and timeless. The interplay between tension and fluidity is created by the juxtaposition of free flowing visuals punctuated with text.

The front cover shows the table of contents, sandwiched between the publication title set in a narrow style of ABC Gravity and a tagline set in Scto Grotesk B and Millionaire.

London-based IYA Studio designed the identity of Portoro Coffee, combining Altiplano’s Millionaire Script with Colophon’s Sunset Gothic.

The brand name, Portoro, originates from a type of luxurious Italian marble. Therefore, when designing the wordmark, “it felt appropriate to lean into a logo that references the engraving style found in the Italian Renaissance era,” Designer Jake Bailey explains. An intricate design that combines multiple letters into a single, unified form and set in Altiplano’s Millionaire, the sophisticated serif wordmark not only communicates a distinctly ‘Italian’ aesthetic but its interlocked letters nod to coffee’s ability to foster ‘connection.’ “In the initial phases of the project, while crafting our strategy,” Bailey notes, “we discussed the unifying power that coffee holds within Italian culture.” The interweaving letters of their design serve as a visual metaphor for this communal act, symbolising the connections formed over a shared cup.

The exhibition Outlet by Ahyeon Ryu is a discourse on consumerism and the art market. It was presented at 뮤지엄헤드 Museumhead in Seoul until January 2024.

Millionaire Paradise, chosen and set by designer Shinwon Kim for the title of the exhibition, perfectly complements the visual ambiance of the exhibition: it combines cold, mechanical geometric forms with the warmth of curves inspired by calligraphy, representing the human touch.

Millionaire Paradise is paired with the Millionaire family (Script, Italic, and Roman) for texts. It was also designed to be harmoniously combined with Atlantique Paradise, a Roman of the same weight derived from Atlantique Miami family, equally available in the Altiplano catalog.

The sans used for the Korean text appears to be Sandoll GothicNeo.

Ryans started as an Ibiza hotel chain, but now it is first and foremost a community. The website still includes a service for booking accommodations with a pool, but it now also has an event calendar with parties and workshops organised by the community members all over the world. You can join the community by filling in and submitting a form on their website and suggest your event by reaching out to the project’s email.

Design by Achos, who picked Druk Wide by Berton Hasebe as the primary typeface for the site, social media pages and merch. The supporting sans initially was MADType’s Quantico. As of February 2024, it has been replaced by Adam Ladd’s Config Condensed.

The logo of The Ryans Times uses Chomsky. The site additionally uses Apple Color Emoji in the ticker-style menu as well as various typefaces for the travel stickers. This includes Millionaire Script (“you”), Sister Spray (“Ibiza”), and Imperator (“Ryans”).

Verydeeprecords kick off the new year with their 60th release: 90 minutes of unreleased music by friends and fellows, celebrating the labels tenth anniversary. The compilation once more shows VDR’s unique view on contemporary electronic music and the pop related adventures they linked to get involved in. Between club and living room, crispy bass music, future songwriter stuff and dark house/techno, XDR sheds light on new collaborations and old friendships alike.

BESIDE stands as an autonomous periodical situated at the intersection of nature and culture. It presents personal narratives, firsthand accounts, and innovative—both contemporary and traditional—ideas for fostering a more fulfilling existence in our world.

The autumn 2023 issue of BESIDE delves into the theme of connections: those soft, daunting, magnificent, and astounding networks that bind us. This edition directs its attention to collective evolution and the myriad relationships that transcend our individual components, creating a synergy that exceeds the sum of its parts.

The magazine employs a blend of Ivar Display, Helvetica Now Display, and Millionaire typeface families, each chosen to emphasize the distinctiveness of every piece. Ivar Text is utilized for the body, owing to its graceful appearance and legibility, while Helvetica Now Micro contributes structural quality to legends and captions.

Galerie Molitor opened in September 2022 in a residential development collective designed by June14 off of Berlin’s Potsdamer Straße. The gallery aims to create a discursive environment for contemporary art in close collaboration with intergenerational Berlin-based and international artists.

The gallery’s identity is essentially based on the use of Millionaire Script and Roman. Black-on-white texts for the web and social networks: elegance and clarity, without any detours. The graphic approach of the printed materials is enhanced by a careful choice of materials, the roughness – inspired by the building’s galerie – of which contrasts with the design of Millionaire. This contrast subtly dialogues with the typeface design itself, which combines calligraphic shapes with radical, contemporary elements and structure.

Millionaire is an original typeface family, as it combines a script version with a roman and an italic; both Script and Roman styles draw their inspiration from English calligraphy of the 18th century, whose most striking expression for Altiplano lies in George Bickham The Elder's work.

On the website, Millionaire is nicely paired with GT Flexa.

Millionaire Script by Raphaël Verona and Stanley by Ludovic Balland, both designed in Switzerland, met in MoMA New York on the occasion of this major exhibition. Both are based on interpretations of historical typefaces and calligraphy masterpieces, with contemporary design features.
