After Russia is an album of songs based on the poems of the so-called unnoticed generation, writers and poets who began writing in exile but never found their audience back home. The record was released in 2023 and marks the 100th anniversary of the first wave of Russian emigration.

The album cover and its website use Loos by CSTM Fonts (reimagined by Tuman), the serif Nib by Colophon, and the slightly wild display font Nieuk by Le Laïc: Type Foundry.

On her website, designer Zuza Rawa shares the following words about the book:

Transformations in Typography is a book that encapsulates the written and visual content of three type-centred events which took place throughout the last few years: MOTYF 2016, MOTYF 2018 and Future Text using one, distinct visual language, which subtly refers to the design of the publications documenting the previous editions of Moving Type Festivals, using the similar, bright colour palette and dynamic layout. The inside of the book is supposed to evoke the expressive nature of MOTYF events using a grid that allows for various and exciting spread arrangements yet maintains a sense of integrity throughout the publication – a rhythm and a visual melody that refer to the “moving type” aspect of the book’s content. The publication is set using two contrasting typefaces – one experimental and pushing the boundaries of legibility (Nieuk) and one very classic and harmonious (Skolar) – which allows for a pleasant reading experience as well as a bit of “play” in this text-heavy book.

Nieuk (Polish for “ignorant”) by independent type foundry Laïc in use for the launch of contemporary ceramic studio Hyper-Mediocre’s new website and online store.

Nieuk is an experimental, modular typeface in lowercase, with a baseline that shifts in unpredictable ways. This suits the similarly unpredictable, playful, character of handbuilt stoneware. To emphasise the soft, imperfection of clay the corners have been rounded subtly – which is then echoed in the Benton Sans path typeset sub-headings.

Young Polish Designers: Studies in Reality is an exhibition shown during Dutch Design Week 2019 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Commissioned by Academic Design Center and curated by Izabela Bołoz, the visual identity for the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue was designed by Anita Wasik, and built around the Nieuk typeface.

The exhibited works represent various design fields – graphic, product, fabric and jewelry – all showing a diversity and versatility of education and boasting the strengths of the faculties involved. This exhibition is a showcase of the artistic talents of the students, the knowledge of techniques and materials, social sensitivity, the ability to think in a conceptual and systematic way, market savviness and an awareness of the current challenges of the modern world.
