Some dishes should be savored not more than once a year, just like some typefaces should be pulled out only for very special occasions. Carlyle Acanthus is one of them. The chubby Tuscan with gaiters, convex bifurcated terminals and a close shade was put to trichromatic use on the cover of a Christmas-themed album by The Monterey Brass.

Named after a common type of foliage ornament, this sugar bomb of a face is the work of lettering artist Paul Carlyle. At Photo-Lettering, Inc., he filled the role of typographic pastry chef, see also the feastful Quaint or the meringue called Roccoco.
