Festival Émergences is a jazz festival in Tours, France, established in 2019. The identity of the 2022 edition was designed by Playground Paris. All information is set in Nord.

Blok Design has crafted the brand identity for The Frederick, a new bar and grill in the heart of downtown Toronto. Named in tribute to Frederick Henry Herbert, the building’s original architect, The Frederick’s visual language captures the spirit of convivial gathering and understated sophistication that defines the venue.

The identity skillfully balances contemporary boldness and timeless elegance, evoking a space that feels both refined and playfully expressive. The logotype was created with Nord by VJ-Type. Diatype Condensed by Dinamo and Store Norske Leif by Skriftkompani form the supporting typographic palette, each contributing to the restaurant’s distinctive and welcoming atmosphere. Diatype Condensed brings modern clarity and efficiency, while Leif introduces warmth and character, allowing the identity to shift seamlessly between formal and informal contexts.

Vitoni is a new ready-to-drink light aperitif inspired by traditional Italian spritz of the 1950s. Identity and Art direction by Carosello Lab. The Vitoni logo is set in Krana Fat, paired with Nord for most copy, and Plaak 2 Griffon as the secondary typeface. The website uses Poppins for body copy.

Made only with white wine and tonic water, its authentic taste is perfect to be enjoyed as the lighter alternative to usual spritz. As part of our strategic consultancy we formulated a straightforward insight: Vitoni values lightness above all: lightness of spirit, of heart and of taste. This concept allowed us to better define the brand essence and its positioning on the market as the Aperitivo Leggero Italiano (the Light Italian Aperitif).

After this analytical preliminary phase, made in close collaboration with the client, we synthesized Vitoni’s identity and core values into visual and verbal expressions. The label presents the vintage heritage of the brand, presenting it to a young audience sensitive to design, health, authenticity and quality. The simple and clean design, with a touch of retrò aesthetic, creates a bold personality that stands out in today’s crowded communication landscape.

Aside the brand identity and its manifestations, CAROSELLO conceptualized a communication strategy named Quartiere Aperitivo, Vitoni’s guide to the coolest neighborhoods in Italy and Europe. To launch this journey, CAROSELLO produced the imagery and copywriting for the first chapter, Milano Navigli.

The Parisian institution Le Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord commissioned us for the identity of their 2015–16 season. We worked on posters and programs, and type: Nord and Sud were designed for the theater’s 2015 season, to make the identity of the season stronger, and more personal. It was subsequently added to VJ-Type’s retail catalogue. Nord and Sud were paired with the serif Louize (205TF) and bits of A2 Regular (A2-TYPE), applied where a sans serif with lowercase was needed.

The concept of color was the general theme for this year. The studio used different media to create a chromatic scale, incl. pigments, ink, watercolor. Founded in 1876, the theater had an erratic existence and it seemed it would never get off the ground. In 1974 Peter Brook took over and decided to rehabilitate the old building. It is now a fascinating place famous for the accessibility of its stage to the public.

Machiyenga is a bean-to-bar chocolate from Cuzco, Peru. The identity was designed by Peruvian graphic designer Alejandro Gavancho, using Le Nord, paired with custom-drawn numbers. The small texts use Intensa Poster.

The name stems from Machiguenga, an indigenous community whose ancestors inhabited the western part of Cusco, known as Antisuyo during the Incan empire. The Machiguenga used Chuncho cacao as a fruit and as a commercial product, a practise that continues to this day. This very same Chuncho cacao is what Machiyenga chocolate uses to create its bars

The goal was to create a brand that is premium yet native. As the chocolate was going to be sold mainly in Cuzco and its target audience, tourists, it was important that the brand identity and packaging felt Peruvian, but without falling into the cliché of traditional Peurvian imagery, but rather a more polished and modern aesthetic, representing today’s Peru but in keeping with the mysticism of our ancestors.
