Demon Seed is a 1977 American science fiction–horror film directed by Donald Cammell. It stars Julie Christie and Fritz Weaver. The film was based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Dean Koontz, and concerns the imprisonment and forced impregnation of a woman by an artificially intelligent computer. Gerrit Graham, Berry Kroeger, Lisa Lu and Larry J. Blake also appear in the film, with Robert Vaughn uncredited as the voice of the computer.

The film's title, above-title billing and tagline, "Fear for her," are set in Gemini. Additional text on the Style B poster is in a tightly set ITC Grouch. The credit block is set in ITC Avant Garde Gothic Condensed. On the British One Sheet poster, the film's title is set in Cybernetic (Graphic Systems) with a tagline in Eurostile and credits in regular-wide Avant Garde Gothic.

The film's title is set in Gemini, with additional text set in or based upon Kabel.

Shown above is the One Sheet poster designed by Bill Gold for the 1973 supernatural horror film The Exorcist. The film is based on the novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty, first published in 1971.

The film's title is set in Gemini, a typeface shown in Photo-Lettering's Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 3 and also Photo Lettering's One Line Manual of Styles, both published in 1971. The latter volume shows four weights, labelled Gemini 4 through 7. The weight used on the poster looks to be Gemini 5 or 6. This typeface choice may have been directly influenced by a 1972 paperback edition of Blatty's novel published by Bantam Books, which also uses Gemini.

Additional text on the poster is either set in or based upon Kabel.

Several other posters including a British Quad version feature the same typographic choices. An advance promotional poster designed by Dan Perri (22.25″ × 31.25″, see the end of this post) uses Weiss Initials No. 2, just like the dust jacket for Harper & Row’s first edition of The Exorcist.

Listings for Gemini show four weights, labelled 4 through 7. The weight used on the poster looks to be Gemini 5 or 6.

The front panel, back panel and spine feature the novel's title, author's name and additional text set in Gemini. The back panel also features what appears to be Times New Roman Extra Bold along with review snippets set in Caledonia. Publisher's text on the top left of the front panel and along spine is also set in Caledonia.

The use of Gemini for the titling on this paperback edition may have had a direct influence on the type used on the one sheet poster for the 1973 film adaptation. The paperback was published in July, 1972, whilst the film was in production, with photography set to begin in mid-August, 1972. An early poster maquette for the film, purportedly from 1972, seems to support this idea with its titling closely resembling that of the paperback.
