Stellar in use

Stellar in use. Originally designed by Robert H. Middleton for Ludlow in 1929 in two weights. “An alternate A, E, and H in both weights have the crossbar extended beyond the left upright, and there is an alternate U without the extended vertical stroke.” [McGrew 1993]

There are two different digitizations, a loose interpretation by Monotype (production credited to Panache Typography), and Stellar Classic SG, a faithful rendering by Spiece Graphics. Latter is used for the sample. Both span four weights. In Monotype’s version, they are named Nova, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta. Spiece Graphics includes the aformentioned alternates (although not accessible via an OpenType feature) plus monocular alternates for ‘a’ and ‘g’.

Mille Bornes is a French version of an American card game that's been around in one version or another for more than a hundred years. The illustrations shown here are from the French edition of 1960, adapted by Parker Brothers in 1962.
