Designed by Josef Týfa, Academia was the winning design in a competition aimed at new typefaces for scientific texts, announced by Grafotechna. Cut and cast in metal in 1968 in 8 and 10 point sizes of plain, italic and semi-bold designs.
Digitally reworked by Týfa together with František Štorm and released with Storm Type in 2004, under the new name Academica. The family spans five weights plus italics. [Storm Type Foundry]
