Memojit (read the announcement on typo.social) is the unofficial successor to the emoji matching game Duomoji, which had disappeared. The game uses DJR’s Megazoid for the title and Gimlet Sans for the body text.

As the type designer of Job Clarendon, Pomfret and Gimlet Sans, I can’t tell you how excited I am to see them used in a design with such inventive typography and limitless variety. In the words of the designer, Nhat Le:

The Tale of Kiều is one the most iconic piece of literature of Vietnam written through the medium of poem.

There are many editions of this book released in the past but this is the first time that it is incorporated with so many paintings that come along. All the paintings (24 paintings in this book are from artist LÊ THIẾT CƯƠNG) describing/summing up the story of this tale and the characters inside.

Job Clarendon is used in this book as main headlines and also for pieces of poem that the painting took inspiration from. Pomfret is used as lines of poem by another poet that took inspiration from the painting => A collaboration between poem – painting – poem. Gimlet Sans is used for body text.

Hand in Hand is a cookbook for children’s first contact with cooking. With easy but healthy recipes it teaches kids the importance of local and organic food, while showing them how much fun it can be to prepare your own meals.

The green script style font is Gobbble Brischke from open source type foundry Lobbby24. Texts are set in Gimlet Sans by DJR.

All the illustrations were executed by a handful of future artists and designers – the kindergarteners who helped to cook some of the meals for the photos.

On October 15, 2021, nine filmmakers screened their short films at the Museum of Modern Art for an event titled By Any Means. I designed the posters as well as screen image used while guests were entering the theater, and during the panel talk.

The painting is by Iffy Chiejina, the main typefaces are Lautsprecher DJR and Gimlet Sans – both designed by David Jonathan Ross and distributed through his Font of the Month Club. The lineup on one of the posters is set in Futura.
