The graphic design for Discipline of Sun Ra by EABS reflects the band's interpretation of Sun Ra’s visionary music. Using black paper and white ink through screen printing, the design emphasizes simplicity and contrast, capturing the expansive and experimental essence of both Sun Ra and EABS. The minimalist approach aims to evoke the cosmic and avant-garde themes found in the music.

The album is available from Astigmatic Records in both CD and LP formats. The LP comes in two versions: a standard edition on black vinyl and a limited-edition version on white vinyl. The limited edition also includes a poster featuring the same artwork as the album cover but in a different format, offering an expanded visual connection to the music.

To accompany the release, short animated announcements were created for social media, maintaining a cohesive visual style while promoting the album in a digital context.

The album makes early use of Asfen, together with Acumin Extra Condensed.

The project was honored with an editorial design award at Konkurs 30/30 in 2020.

The company is a unique metal manufactures and develops components almost from the beginning. With their unique technology, which is practically a complex metal injection molding process - they have a prominent role in this industry.

Sora and Aelyn use for the header and body copy text.

Some time after the introduction of (at least part of) this new visual identity, it was disposed of as the company merged with ARC Group Worldwide as announced some years before.

Asfen in use on the promotional material and catalog for Room Room Room 김원화, a solo exhibition by artist Kim Won-Hwa 김원화. The exhibition was held in November 2022 in Space 9 스페이스나인, Seoul, Korea. The other fonts in use are Avenir Next Condensed and Pretendard.

Asfen is used for the title of the bookl Hermai by Artes e Engenhos. Asfen is paired with Founders Grotesk, Charter Italic, and Adobe Caslon Italic. The page numbers use the “White alt” style of Decay (Due Studio).

Lebre – Lances de Hermes is a performance by Alexandre Pieroni Calado, João Ferro Martins co-created by Raquel Pimpão/Sofia Queiroz and text by José Miranda Justo. The book Hermai was designed by Ilhas Studio as if “something went wrong: pages that appear to have been badly printed and folded, images that dragged.”

Asfen in use for the logo of the new Warhaus album Ha Ha Heartbreak, released November 11th 2022. The typeface used for the body text is (the old version of) Pangram Sans.

It has been half a decade since Warhaus, the brainchild of Maarten Devoldere (Balthazar), suddenly conquered our musical hearts with the triumphant double victory of We Fucked a Flame into Being (2016) and Warhaus (2017). The songs of the brand-new album Ha Ha Heartbreak came gushing out if him in a mere three weeks in the sultry city of Palermo. All Devoldere needed was the solitude of a hotel room, a guitar, a microphone, and a heart that had recently been broken in thousands of pieces. The sorrow was hard to handle, so, of course, Sicily was an escape. But as it goes, those who try to outrun life quickly run into themselves.​

Song after song, Maarten Devoldere dismantles his own pose. He looks at himself without mercy and, honestly, what he sees doesn’t exactly make him happy.​

The sound, however, remains wonderfully light. It swings and glows with tantalizing strings, sensual backing vocals, horns, playful piano parts, anything to lighten the load. It allows Ha Ha Heartbreak to be a moving emotional exploration as well as a vessel of great musical richness.

Asfen in use for the logo and visual identity of Shinto, a producer and beatmaker based in Geneva, and for his new EP Mantra. Designer Benoit Dumont paired Asfen with ES Klarheit Grotesk.

Leira is a physical space with digital extensions located in Lugo, Galicia. A meeting place to explore the intersections between research, artistic creation and contemporary cultural production.

We seek to cultivate imaginaries of the present and the future around the cultural and territorial reality of which we are a part. We claim the periphery as a prolific place for the emergence of new views, practices and voices not captured by centrality frameworks. We want to work with other times that transcend the imperatives of speed and visibility, by offering places for production, reflection and critical/speculative thought through different tools, practices and knowledge.

Leira uses Asfen for the titles of its identity and its logo. For social media graphics, it’s paired with an unidentified sans [edit: it’s Armand Grotesk, see comments] used in all caps. On the website, the supporting sans is Nitti Grotesk. The project was founded by Antonio Giráldez López and Laura Tabarés, who might also be responsible for the design.

Anxious is a fashion brand based in Marseille, France. For their ephemeral collection called “Human” released in summer 2021, Anxious want to remember the importance of social links and put forward the human beings’ place on earth and celebrate a thinking about live together.

Asfen complements the graphic design of this collection.

Pengar på fickan (“Money in your pocket”) is a novel by Danish poet Asta Olivia Nordenhof, translated by Johanne Lykke Holm to the Swedish and published by Norstedts as the first edition in their Scandinavian Star series. For the cover design, Stockholm-based Ateljé Grotesk used Gothia Serif for the author name and title, and repeated the info as a frame set in Asfen.

Who are we ?

If the Heritage Days have existed for decades, the Heritage Days were missing in Belgium. Initiated in Paris from 2015, the Matrimony Days are spreading in France… and now in Brussels since 2019. On the initiative of the non-profit organization.

'L’architecture qui dégenre', the Matrimoine Days will take place in Brussels on 23, 24 and 25 September 2022. Since the end of 2021, the Matrimoine Season has also been in full swing. This takes place from October 2021 to June 2022 and includes around thirty activities spread over the year, generally taking place on Sundays at 2 p.m.

(...) The entire program thus makes it possible to account for the participation of women* and gender minorities in the many professions related to heritage. In order to strengthen our range of activities, we have also set up, since 2021, an annual program: the Matrimoine Season. This offers Brussels residents more than thirty activities. On the program: guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, screenings and even more content to discover our matrimonial heritage. The idea: to participate, on an ongoing basis, in raising awareness and training the public with regard to heritage.

All typefaces used in the communication for the Matrimoine 2021-22 season have been exclusively created by female designers/typeface designers and are distributed independently and/or by them under commercial or free license. Their use aims not only to celebrate their talent but also to make visible the work of women typographers and/or type designers in a world where it is still too under-represented.

The identity is set in Ambiant Sans by Laura Csocsán and Asfen by Inès Davodeau.

Asfen in use for the SS2021 collection by Zoe Karssen. The typeface appears on T-shirts as well as in the lookbook. Amsterdam based design studio Alt8 comments:

Ready to roar. Amsterdam fashion brand Zoe Karssen offers edgy designs for strong, intuitive women. Alt8 contributes to the SS2021 collection with two playful print designs in a reference to the leopard that can be spotted at Karssen this season. […] Work, chill or party: the SS2021 collection combines natural charisma with smoldering energy in a range of stylish outfits marked by leopard and snake-skin prints. Alt8 gives the look book a touch of casual glamour: no excuses, no regrets.

Artwork for the debut album release of music producer Fredi Casso. The album title uses BM Erkin by Murathan Biliktü (2020). In some cases Asfen by Inès Davodeau (2020) is used for the artist’s name. The title is also used in music video clips. The font can be seen at the beginning and in the background of the video for “Pixel” by Fredi Casso.

The sans serif typefaces on the album are yet unidentified.
