Monotype series 297 and 319 are two sets of sans-serif capitals, outlined and partially filled. 297 combines solid and vertically hatched parts, 319 has horizontally hatched parts and leaves the rest open. Listed in the 1931/1932 addendum to Wetzig under the German names Grotesk-Versallen „Schwarz u. Grau“ and „Grau u. Weiß“ [Wetzig 1926–40]. The sample combines both variants.

Alembic Press lists them as Acier and mentions they were never released and withdrawn in 1965. Although the design closely follow Cassandre’s for Deberny & Peignot, there are differences, e.g. Acier Noir has no hatched parts, ‘M’ is narrower.
