Aquário, by Marlene Barreto, makes use of capitalism, power relations, oppression and contamination, to talk about the loss of the sense of humanity. Taking this apocalyptic point of view as a starting point, the graphic image for the play was based on the cold colors and the mystery that populates Marlene Barreto’s entire narrative.

The play was presented by Casulo – Artes Performativas e Audiovisuais at the Teatro da Comuna in Lisbon and at the Espaço Cultural Fernando Augusto in Póvoa de Santa Iria. In the posters designed by Ilhas (@ilhastudio), the bold letters are set in Belle de Mai by 60Kilos. Text is added in Arial.

L’Insecte is the title of the Autumn/Winter 2020 collection by fashion brand Pellicer. Its launch was accompanied by a film produced by Féminin Films, with creative direction from Gio Pellicer. Africa Pombo provided the graphic design and used Belle de Mai for the titles. It’s paired with what appears to be Neue Haas Grotesk Display.

Presented virtually at the beginning of August, Pellicer draws inspiration from the haunting anatomy of arthropods in what is his letter of introduction to the general public. Beetles, grasshoppers, ants… All of them inspire a proposal that, far from enjoying the explicit representation of invertebrates, uses them as an escape valve. The dark and sentimental universe presented by the Alicante-born instills a deep love for the rarity and the different.

Reinvented kimonos, “matador” pants and tight-fitting corsets make up a collection in which tradition and transgression go hand in hand. His ideal of beauty, accompanied by a forceful speech in favor of sustainability, crafts and social demand.

Poster for Leon Coeur’s concert at Palacio de la Prensa, Madrid, where the band first presented their new single “Los Angeles”. The typography uses Area (Blaze Type) in all caps, with the O taken from Belle de Mai (60Kilos).
