Similar to Futura Black, but with various differences in the details, most notably in the elongated proportions with straight-sided rounds, the quarter ellipses instead of circles for terminals in ‘afg35’, and pointed forms for ‘vwAMVW’. Designed by Armin Haab and reproduced in Lettera 2 (1961) as Black Letter. The fifth edition of this alphabet source book from 1976 shows a revised design, now with blunt forms for letters with diagonals and an ‘H’ with implied crossbar. It’s not clear if Black Letter – in either form – was adopted for photo or digital typesetting.
