Vancouver Bold is a photo typeface shown in Typeshop’s 1973 catalog. It appears to be derived from Walter Haettenschweiler’s Strada (Lettera, 1967), with vertically stretched proportions. While many basic letterforms are identical, a number of glyphs were revised, especially those that didn’t show the pronounced horizontal contrast (AKMNVWXYkvw). ‘Q’ is barless, descender in ‘g’ curves upwards, ‘j’ descends, ‘q’ is spurless, ‘r’ is cut vertically.
