Protean’s brand concept “Based on Conviction. Ready for Change” describes a very specific attitude in finance, disciplined decisions, and an explicit willingness to revise them when reality shifts. The identity was built to hold that tension without falling into the usual finance clichés, polished certainty on top of implied complexity underneath.

The typographic system is built around a deliberate tension between permanence and adaptability. TWK Burns anchors the identity with a sense of weight, discipline, and institutional memory, it feels carved rather than drawn, aligning with Protean’s emphasis on conviction and responsibility. Rhymes introduces a more expressive, high-contrast voice in headlines, allowing for nuance, emphasis, and moments of controlled instability. Ritual (with Ritual Mono) functions as the connective tissue, a contemporary sans that keeps the system operational, readable, and grounded in the present. Together, the typefaces mirror Protean’s philosophy: decisions rooted in strong belief, but always open to revision as conditions change.

The rebranding of one of Europe’s most eminent research institutes, the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI in Würenlingen, Switzerland, was handled by Scholtysik.

The Swiss agency developed a dynamic logo that is constantly being formed and re-formed from tiny particles. The resulting shapes are inspired by PSI’s diverse research fields, such as quantum technology, neutron scattering, protein folding or atmospheric chemistry.

The PSI design system creates a new variety of expression. A free-style imagery, a broad colour palette and a variable layout offer great creative freedom. Precise language, clean typography and high-quality photography convey scientific excellence.

Scholtysik commissioned a slightly customized version of Revolver Type’s Ritual. Dubbed Accelerate, PSI’s exclusive typeface contains the complete Latin and Greek alphabets, as well as the mathematical symbols and special characters of all European languages. Its expression is factual, clear and precise. It is contrasted with an intense, pure colour palette. It corresponds to the abstract scientific topics and the often synthetic visualisations of the research results.

Specimen for Accelerate, PSI’s custom version of Ritual

The fourth edition Sun Cycle NYD music festival identity that will take place in 2024 uses Ritual by Revolver Type in Extrabold style, combined with Odd Mono by Metis.

Sun Cycle is held annually on New Years Day, with carefully curated lineups that are reflective of inclusivity without compromising on quality. A permeable exploration of the vast tapestry of dance culture from soul and jazz tipped music to the boundless potential of electronica, with influences from around the world.

The fourth edition of the festival takes place at the Coburg Velodrome in Naarm, Australia.

The event features bespoke stage designs, unique food offerings from some of Melbourne’s top food and cuisine venues and unique interactive art experiences and installations from Melbourne’s brightest visual artists.

Rebranding for Atticus, a rapidly growing Australian software company that helps professionals review and verify important documents.

Having outgrown their initial brand, they came to us with a need for a new look and feel that better represented the up-and-coming technology player that they've become. It needed to feel trustworthy and intelligent, while still having a sense of energy and approachability. It also needed to re-imagine their existing bird logo into a more distinctive and flexible symbol.

The new symbol is a simplified finch that incorporates the shape of a check mark, signifying verification and approval. Derived from the graphic style of this mark, illustrations from London-based James Graham bring to life to the customers and concepts of the brand. Sophisticated yet playful, they help tie the assets together and create moments of delight and discovery throughout the suite.

The warm, human and trustworthy tone of Tiempos Headline carries the typographic system, recalling an established newspaper or magazine, while the bright yellow of the editor's highlighter became the new brand colour, lending vibrancy and energy.
