contour. Shown in 1843 both by Figgins (as Pica two-line
ornamented no. 2)¹ and Caslon². Also shown by Robb in the
USA in 1844 and by German founders³ in 1845 [Gray 1976].

The design may have originated in France [THP]. Wells & Webb showed a wood type
version as 14 Line Pica Tuscan Open in 1849
[Kelly 1969]. A wood type version is also
