Bauer’s Zeitungs-Grotesk (“Newspaper Sans”) is distinguished from similar condensed sans serifs by diagonal terminals in ‘aes’ etc. and spurless forms for ‘b’ and ‘d’. Issued in two styles; Neue enge Zeitungs-Grotesk (1904) and the bolder Schmale halbfette Zeitungs-Grotesk (1912). [Wetzig 1926–40]
The lighter style is shown in a 1970s Neufville specimen as Grotesca estrecha.
Digitized by GroupType and released in 1995 as Grotesca Extra Condensed (used for sample).
