Cut by Friedrich W. Bauer. A sample text reads “Geschnitten 1883” (“cut in 1883”). [1890 Bauer & Co. specimen] Similar to Antike Kanzlei, but with more ornate capitals. Continued by Berthold [1900 Berthold specimen]. Caractères gothiques renaissance as shown by Berthier & Durey appears to be the same design, with both plain and floriated capitals [c.1903 specimen].
Gerhard Helzel has a digital Renaissance-Kanzlei (1997) based on the 60pt size and states that the design was additionally sold by Breitkopf. David Rakowski’s Uechi Gothic (1992) is a much coarser rendition, with a number of inauthentic details.
