Shown in a 1922 specimen by Gans as Grotesca ancha nueva (“New wide grotesque”) with a lighter fina weight and two related styles, Grotesca ancha negra (black) and Grotesca ancha vaciada (inline). The bolder weight appears to be a copy and expansion of Lining Gothic No. 40, the extended style of Charles H. Beeler’s 1885 design for Keystone (used for sample).
