FE-Schrift in use

FE-Schrift in use. FE-Schrift, i.e. fälschungserschwerende Schrift (“forgery-impeding typeface”) was designed by Karlgeorg Hoefer in 1978–80 as a car license plate typeface and introduced in Germany in 1994. Two widths, FE-Mittelschrift and FE-Engschrift.

Lineto’s LL FE Schrift (1995) is digitization in two widths, expanded with a lowercase. See also Sauerkrauto (2000), a looser interpretation by Martin Lexelius, likewise with added lowercase.

GL-Nummernschild (Gutenberg Labo, 2009–2011, used for sample) is a faithful freebie digitization in two widths, based on “Fahrzeug-Zulassungsverordnung, Anlage 4” and an image file from Wikipedia Commons.
