Zipper

Designed by Bob Newman in 1970 for Letraset. [Daines 2016] Some sources additionally credit Philip Kelly [Reichardt/Hoefer], who worked at the Letraset Studio from 1969, but who himself doesn’t mention Zipper as one of his designs [Kelly]. Sublicensed to ITC. Possibly inspired by 19th-century wood type such as Hamilton’s Gothic Bold. Italian display type foundry Xilografia Adige had the design as Delfino. Copied by Lettering Inc. as Chipper. [Switkin 1976]
