I didn’t start this project with the goal of making a book. I just wanted to create stuff everyday. So every morning, rain, shine or hangover, I put an icon on @music_is_minimalist.

What started as daily Instagram posts, now has evolved into a book for your coffee table. With a playful eye for words, shapes and life experiences, each page reads like a creative riddle. This book features 365 graphic parodies of music titles, in the form of fun, spontaneous and universal icons. Monosten is used throughout.

Fillmore Coffee is a hole in the wall neighborhood coffeeshop hidden in a small alley in Setiabudi, Jakarta. The couple behind it named the place “Fillmore” as an homage to a San Francisco district they frequented while they were both living in the Bay Area.

Their aim is to bring the same warm, family-owned atmosphere that the neighborhood is widely known for. Fillmore Coffee’s space is intentionally smaller than most, hoping to bring people closer together through their caffeine fix.

The visual identity aims to bring the laid back, mom-and-pop personality of Fillmore to the forefront. This was achieved through a timeless deli look and colors with an added quirkiness. The logogram itself is a slanted F with a nod to the distinctive building silhouettes often found on San Francisco’s hilly streets. The condensed, rounded sans-serif GT Pressura is chosen as the primary typeface.

On the menu and collateral, the typographic palette is extended with Monosten (Colophon Type Foundry), Hoefler & Co’s Numbers: Revenue and Grilli Type’s GT America Expanded .

German for Artists is a hybrid pocket grammar book and an artist’s humorous reflections on the more philosophical aspects of the German language. Written by the Danish artist Stine Marie Jacobsen, the book offers a critical and very humorous linguistic introduction to the vibrant and international cultural scene in Berlin. The book looks at contemporary art through the optics of language teaching, educates the reader about art and German grammar at one and the same time.

University of the Arts Helsinki chose bold and strong Titling Gothic to interact with the informal, spontaneous Monosten typeface. Great combination for this kind of site.
