The first version of this typeface was created by Marek Pistora in 1997. Vafle (initially Wafle) grew over the years and was completed in co-operation with Tomáš Brousil, who in 2006 made it available for sale through his Suitcase Type Foundry. In 2014, it was transferred to the Briefcase Type Foundry. The family spans 12 styles: Classic, Small Caps, Condensed, Extended, Mono, Stencil, Blindy (with filled-in counters), Shadow, Tape, Scratch, Egyptienne, and Picto.
