Wasp is a science fiction novel by British author Eric Frank Russell, originally published in 1957. The edition here was published in 1971 by Bantam Books. The cover artwork is by Gene Szafran.

The title and author’s name use Benguiat Laurent with a Psychemat effect. Anzeigen-Grotesk is used for the words “SCIENCE FICTION BY” and the tagline on the back cover. The tagline on the front cover, and the synopsis on the back cover, use News Gothic Condensed.

The Curse of the Undead: Classic Tales of Vampire and Their Victims is a collection of short stories by the Marquis de Sade, Matthew Lewis, Poe, Le Fanu, Bram Stoker, Robert Bloch, and others. [Goodreads] The book was edited by M.L. Carter and published in paperback by Fawcett Publications in 1970, with cover art by Jeff Jones.

The title typeface is Benguiat Laurent. Drawn by Ed Benguiat for Photo-Lettering some time before 1971, it’s similar to the nowadays better known Roberta. Laurent is distinguished by bottom-heavy letterforms with serious flaring. Photo-Lettering made a digitization in 1992, but it is no longer available.

Ed Benguiat's psychedelic Photo-Lettering offering Laurent was a perfect match for Sesame Street's goofy, furry monster Grover and his vinyl LP entitled Grover Sings The Blues. There currently isn't a digital version of Laurent available. (Jimi, by Rebecca Alaccari for Canada Type, comes close but is actually based on a related design called Mecanorma Poster.)
