Dear Sir/Madam was created by Radim Peško in 2011 specifically for an exhibition. Participants in the show had exclusive access to the fonts for the event but were free to use them in future projects.

Extended with an Italic and 12 stylistic alternates, it was released for general licensing in Feb. 2023, now spelled Dear Sir Madam.

The design appears to be based on a signwriting style by Eric Gill in c.1903–07 for W. H. Smith & Son. That design was also interpreted by Monotype as Gill Facia (1996).
