ITC Garamond is used for headings, evoking heritage, credibility, and the world of finance. Px Grotesk is used for body text, referencing digital culture and the forward-looking ethos of Web3.

Together, they express Citizen X’s role at the intersection of established financial principles and emerging decentralized technologies.

Tang China – A Cosmopolitan Dynasty is an exhibition shown from 20 November 2024 to 3 March 2025 at the Musée Guimet in Paris.

The design of the exhibition catalogue reflects the rich cultural and historical context of the Tang dynasty. The bilingual publication uses the heavier weights of Ergon for the title and headlines, evoking an atmosphere of tradition while maintaining a contemporary feel. The layout organizes the content in a way that is both informative and visually engaging, with imagery and text working together to highlight the multicultural and prosperous nature of the Tang dynasty, particularly the city of Chang'an as a crossroads of diverse cultures.

Climate. Knowledge. Action! is a permanent exhibition at the Technisches Museum Wien. It addresses hot topics – literally: climate change and climate crisis as well as their far-reaching consequences. The exhibition explores various perspectives—from resource scarcity to social and technological solutions.

Sustainability is not just a key topic but also a fundamental design principle of the exhibition. The concept follows the Reduce. Re-use. Recycle. paradigm, emphasizing the thoughtful use of materials, the elimination of excess and a clear visual language. The selected typefaces play a crucial role in knowledge communication, making complex information accessible and easy to understand.

Px Grotesk by Nicolas Eigenheer was chosen as the typographic foundation for the exhibition design. Its precise, standardized forms with strong grotesque characteristics ensure excellent readability – both on screens and in print. With its geometric clarity, it remains sharp in small sizes while revealing a refined, well-thought-out design in larger applications. This makes Px Grotesk a seamless fit for the exhibition’s visual concept, which is based on a structured dot grid.

Supermarker, and expressive handwritten typeface by Ulrike Rausch is used as a contrasting element. Its dynamic style adds a personal, direct touch and appears in interactive stations, explanatory comments, or quotes. While Px Grotesk emphasizes the factual, analytical nature of climate data, Supermarker introduces an emotional component and encourages engagement both visually and conceptually.

Koris is an all-in-one platform offering web3-enabled tools for DAOs, web3 companies, and web2 businesses to progressively decentralise and manage business operations on-chain. For typography, Px Grotesk by Optimo and Reckless by Displaay were selected. These typefaces have differing personalities, but similar x-heights, making them cohesive and harmonious—much like a vibrant workplace. For art direction, pixel icons of various office objects, symbols, and gestures are interspersed in between text to accentuate the idea of the work(space).

The wordmark is based on Stabil Grotesk.

For Kaiserslautern in Zahlen, students of Fachbereich Architektur der TU Kaiserslautern (FATUK) dug deep into statistics and numbers about their hometown Kaiserslautern. The occasion was the question of how, for example, land consumption in Germany can be transferred to Kaiserslautern, a city in southwest Germany. Three working groups on the topics of land use, consumption, and mobility reviewed material from a wide variety of sources and developed concepts to present them.

The A5 leaflet unfolds to an A2 poster, completely printed in two Pantone colors.

The design features Barbecue and Clock by Xiaoyuan Gao (notyourtype foundry) for titles and pie charts. Px Grotesk by Optimo is used as part of FATUK’s identity (by Deutsche und Japaner) for body text.

The Websites of the Year contest encourages creators to polish their skills by mastering Readymag’s ever-expanding creative arsenal, create functional projects for clients and bring impactful passion projects to the world. It also introduces the broad public to new web design gems and the limitless possibilities of Readymag, an in-browser design tool for creating outstanding digital publications.

The visual approach to the contest website was mostly determined by the details of our application page. It included terms, rules, a timeline; as well as voting criteria, with geometric shapes appearing on the contest page to dilute text volume.

As for the choice of typeface, we opted for Px Grotesk—which we’ve used in our own Readymag projects for the last two years or so. Since the typeface is a recognizable part of our visual style, we decided to use glyphs from this font and set them to enhance the effect of familiarity and clearness.

A map of, and essay about, the buildings Alison and Peter Smithson designed at the University of Bath. Commissioned by Edge Arts and designed by City Edition Studio.

From 1978 onwards the Smithsons realised five built environments on campus and Peter Smithson taught architecture students within the Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering.

Although the Smithsons’ Brutalist style is quite unlike the Palladian architecture of Bath, they took enormous inspiration from the built heritage of Bath, sharing design aspirations for cohesion, organisation and enjoyment in habitation. They saw their additions as ‘mat building’, stating that the campus was like a fabric laying on the sloping landscape of the hillside. The Smithsons wanted to understand and complement that existing fabric and ‘weave onto its edges several terminating fringes’.

Visitors can use the map to tour these key buildings and campus locations in order to better understand the Smithsons’ work and legacy.

The Internet Archive is a digital library located in San Francisco, California. The organization’s mission is to provide “Universal Access to All Knowledge.” Just like other public libraries, it offers free public access to collections of digitized materials, including books, images, movies, audio, software, and websites.

For the Internet Archive's new identity system, made as a fictional project at ArtCenter College of Design, Internet Display, Media77, and Px Grotesk are the three typographical choices. Internet Display, designed by Yicen Liu, was inspired by the PetaBox which the organization uses to sort, store, and distribute information to the public. Media77, designed by Team’77, is very legible at small sizes, and full of refined details at display sizes. Px Grotesk, designed by Nicolas Eigenheer, has an unprecedented aesthetic with solid grotesque roots and works well both on screen and in print.

Along with the concept, typography, colors, and other visual elements, this rebrand of the Internet Archive seeks to share information and extend knowledge without any limitation.

The Debris of Attention is a playful web project about archaic web gimmicks: intrusive pop-ups and sidebars, floating menu bars, font hostility, etcetera. It gathers some of these annoying website characteristics and offers visitors to free the page from them by hovering and clicking on each.

All typography uses Px Grotesk.

The Oracle Cards of Design Manifestos is a project that aims to open up your imagination and help you through some of the most frequently experienced forms of creative block.

Every time you refresh the page, it will offer a card with a phrase from an important 20th or 21st century design manifesto. It may come in the form of a streamline recommendation or vague meditation—consider it and try to interpret it as a clue for your design process.

Coulter Wines approached us to expand on their core range with a group of experimental offerings. The large 'C4' batch marker continues to be consistent from the core range, this time more subtly using print effects such as blind embossing and high builds. The text details are spread over the label and join together through hairlines that suggest an experiment and a mapped out process.

The main typeface used for information is Miso (Mårten Nettelbladt), set in loosely spaced capitals and paired with all lowercase Px Grotesk (Optimo). The initials indicating the wine range (C1, C2, etc) and the winery’s logo are set in Avia Bold (Font Bureau).

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the women's suffrage in Switzerland (1971), the Museum of Art and History in Neuchâtel put a spotlight on women artists in their collections, through the exhibition Mutantes. Les femmes dans les collections (Mutants. Women in the collections). Supero created the exhibition poster using a modified version of Generation Mono by Nguyen Gobber and the museum’s corporate typeface Px Grotesk by Nicolas Eigenheer.

Aris is a creative production and post-production studio specializing in advertising, film, and branded content. The identity makes use of Px Grotesk for headline and Atlas Grotesk for body copy. In this context, Atlas Grotesk serves as a pared-down companion to Px Grotesk. The workmark uses a customized version of the now-retired Headline style of Fugue.

Film production tools have a distinctive visual language with which Aris’ clients are very familiar. References to this language are implemented in unique, understated ways like the visible composition grid and the use of a monospaced font (Atlas Typewriter) placed along the outer edges of a composition. Because the references aren’t embedded into the logo, they can be pared back (e.g. business card) or made more overt (e.g. T-shirt) to suit the context.

Welcome to dev wonderland! The digital pioneers of tomorrow aren’t motivated by stale promises of a work-hard, play-hard work environment. They seek a workplace that goes beyond platitudes and where freedom, learning, and fun prevail. Our task was to capture this spirit in a campaign that reaches software developers in their own habitat – using a mixture of gaming references, memes, and nerdy headlines, in a stylishly pixilated visual world.

The typographic concept is derived directly from sipgate’s day-to-day realities and where markers and whiteboards are the tools of the trade. Handwriting combined with the sipgate house typeface Px Grotesk creates a lively, personal recruitment campaign that refers to the constant “work in progress” of software development. This, in combination with the image world tailored directly to the target audience, gives the campaign a progressive and authentic look without relying on tired or out of touch recruitment clichés.

Unlimited is the second edition of the independent TEDx event that took place in the Republic of San Marino. The theme of the event was the concept of the limit, which was translated visually by using stretched typography representing the strive to expand someone's own capabilities.

Coign’s nature was perfect for this use. Since the event was dealing with themes around the tech and humanistic world, the long-format texts use Px Grotesk, which mixes both rounded and squared traits.

Within a larger process, Allbau AG, the municipal housing company of the City of Essen, compared itself with other companies in the housing industry throughout Germany in the area of employer offers and services.

We accompanied the benchmarking process as a partner within an interdisciplinary working group consisting of real estate experts and work psychologists and subsequently presented the results of the scientific study in a report.

Px Grotesk (Optimo) is used throughout.

André Fuchs, a graphic artist who deals particularly with the phenomenon of chance, visited the students of UdK Berlin as part of the Basic lessons. He introduced us to the concept of aleatoricism, which describes the use of arbitrariness in various arts. Despite his opinion that it actually destroys the magic if you understand the methods behind it, Fuchs explained different approaches to us. These include improvisation, which was used by artists such as Piet Mondrian or Ellsworth Kelly. The dilemma can also become a welcome means of design, since it may reveal a surprise effect.

The posters were part of an infinite series because they are based on a random algorithm. Printed in A1 format (59.4×84.1 cm), they were used to advertise for André Fuchs’s lecture titled “Aleatorics. Coincidence as a tool” at UdK Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts).

Design studio elbow has created a new identity and website for the mobile gaming leader Machine Zone. The typeface used for titling is NN Ernesto, while the body text typeface is Px Grotesk.

Launched earlier this year, Neo.Life is a new media company that aims to “[make] sense of the Neobiological Revolution”:

Mapping the brain, sequencing the genome, decoding the microbiome, extending life, curing diseases, editing mutations. We live in a time of awe and possibility — and also enormous responsibility. Are you prepared?

Following Nicholas Vokey’s art direction, the website was designed by Nathan Hass and team at Upstatement. Three different grotesks have been paired for the typography. What might sound like a recipe for disarray works remarkably well here. Each of the typefaces has been assigned a clear role.

Px Grotesk (Optimo) was chosen for the logo – where its O with the straight-sided counter can shine – in oversized caps that exceed the bounds of the canvas. It appears for infographics, too. Klim’s Untitled Sans Regular is the text face, with the Medium weight used to mark article beginnings. Caps from the Black weight lend their heft in headings. It’s often dialed down a notch again by the use of outline effects.

The secret star is Dinamit (Revolver Type), which is used for everything between and beyond, like teasers, subheadings, drop caps, bylines, category links, forms, and more. Lukas Schneider’s contemporary re-evaluation of DIN Breitschrift, the extended member of the German standard typeface, is used in three of its seven weights (Extralight, Regular, Bold), plus occasional italics.

Neo.Life was founded by Jane Metcalfe, who previously started Wired and Tcho. The website was a Digital Medal Finalist in the Society of Publication Designers’ competition, and
was awarded the Society of News Design bronze medal for website design.
