Saphir was first cast by Stempel in 1953. Named Sapphire in English-speaking countries and Iniciales de Zafiro in Spanish.
Festliche Ziffern (“festive figures”, 1950) is a related series consisting of numerals, period and dash only, with slightly different forms and a more delicate decoration, in three levels of detailing: Serie I for 24–48pt, Serie II for 60 and 72pt, and Serie III for larger sizes (made as galvanos). Uses of Festliche Ziffern are included under Saphir.
