Studio Dumbar and Martens Kuipers have developed a new identity and website for American lamps and interior retailer Lumens.

Typefaces used are Niveau Grotesk from HvD Fonts, and Store Norske Tango from Skriftkompani.

Feestcafé de Gezelligheid is a pub situated in the centre of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The design studio rmic has crafted a visual identity, highlighting JAF Zalamander as the primary typeface, complemented by Oswald and Niveau Grotesk for other text elements. The slogan on the homepage (“gezelligheid kent geen tijd”) additionally uses Dancing Script.

How to Move a Mountain is Caleb Stein’s photographic essay of the Carrara marble quarry, a series of intimate portraits of robotic arms and raw marble that offer nuance to today’s debate around artistic authorship and AI and computer-augmented art.

Caleb Stein captures Robotor in Italy for Smithsonian Magazine, where robots sculpt marble under digital guidance, challenging traditional notions of artistic authorship. His black and white images intimately document this blend of ancient craft and modern technology. The artist book is accompanied by an essay by David Campany, which details the history between photography and sculpture and Stein’s place within this lineage.

The title on the book cover is set in Romie Regular (designed by Margot Lévêque).

The book’s interior combines headlines in Romie with body copy set in Niveau Grotesk.

Brand identity for a Engine Capital – a company from Sydney, Australia, that provides mortgage-backed commercial loans to SMEs & developers.

The main challenge was to have a strong representation among the competitors that could instantly draw attention to the dynamic of the business to the multiple possibilities to get the mortgages. The concept highlights the key advantages of the company: focusing on a fresh perspective in the field, where things are dynamic and swift and have fast approvals instantly. The symbol is clean, simple, and multidimensional and it highlights the main mission of “powered finance” and “accelerated lending”.

Niveau Grotesk is used for the all-lowercase wordmark, accopanying the custom E glyph. For all communication, IBM Plex Sans is the main typeface, used in various weights. On the website, selected headlines use IBM Plex Serif.

In 2019 the contemporary Swiss artist Miriam Cahn is honored with exhibitions in important museums worldwide – one in the Kunsthaus Bregenz (Austria). The accompanying catalogue is the first comprehensive bilingual monograph about Miriam Cahn’s work to be published for some years.

How can one give her often large-format work – hung by herself in the four floors of the Kunsthaus – adequate place (and space) in a book? How can one do her fast, expressive style justice, how her radical approach to such issues as violence and love, escape and security, the gender struggle and loneliness, how her way to point out something uncomfortable?

On the one hand with restraint:
* The Swiss-style brochure with free spine links to Cahn’s fast work and the often visible working tracks.
* The rhythm of the hanging is mirrored, the paintings are presented with a lot of space to let them work for themselves.

On the other hand with tension:
* Pictures of the staircases lead through the virtual exhibition. Installation views, details and fold-out pages animate to turn the pages back and forth: animation to look at the pages thoroughly
* Shifting paragraphs creating a strong rhythm, requiring energy as thinking and discussing difficult or complex subjects.
