of increasing width, in upright and italic styles. A ca. 1974
specimen has six weights plus italics; Elongated Extreme,
Elongated, Ultra Condensed, Condensed, Bold, Bold Black. [Bennewith] Issued
by Berthold Fototypes in 1970. [1970
ad] Four weights plus italics are shown in Berthold’s
E1 (1974) and E3 (1982) catalogs as
Churchward 69. The design year was apparently added to
distinguish the typeface from Churchward Design (70). Three styles
(Condensed w/ italic and Bold) were carried by Hollenstein
[Hollenstein 1974].
