Art Field Nanhai, located in Guangdong, stands apart from typical public art exhibitions in urban settings by focusing on the preservation and revitalization of regional culture. Unlike the fast-paced environments of cities, this initiative emphasizes the value of rural areas and their rich heritage. The Signage Project is an independent exhibition segment featured in the second edition of Art Field Nanhai. This segment aims to breathe new life into old neighborhoods by designing and installing signage for spaces like Taiping Hui, a once-vibrant commercial street that is now nearly abandoned. The project seeks to revitalize forgotten spaces through thoughtful design and community-focused solutions.

One of the standout pieces in this project is the Taiping Granary. The creative concept behind this design is inspired by the shape of granary buildings and their function as “transit stations.” We incorporated the visual elements of conveyor belts into the sign design to evoke historical memories and connect the past with the present.

This is the promotional poster designed for the installation project. It incorporates the creative concept of a “conveyor belt.” A massive conveyor belt circle occupies the entire frame, creating a strong visual impact. The symbolic meaning of the conveyor belt is a dual reference to both heritage and transformation, while also suggesting that the installation project serves as a bridge connecting the past and the future, leading the audience to rediscover the overlooked old neighborhoods and commercial streets.

Indigo Park is a 2024 indie horror mascot game developed and published by YouTuber Mason Myers, better known as UniqueGeese.

The first chapter of the game features the protagonist Ed, who entered Indigo Park and encountered Rambley the Raccoon, an AI mascot.

The Indigo Park logo consists of two parts: while “PARK“ is in Gill Sans, the “Indigo” part is either based on an unidentified typeface, or entirely custom made. Empirical Italic is a little similar. The older variant of the logo can be seen in the opening cutscene, where it’s using some version of Bradley – a font that’s also used by Disneyland. Fonts used in the user interface include DCC Sharp Distress Black, used only for the main menu title and Oswald. Subtitles are in Quicksand.

Feestcafé de Gezelligheid is a pub situated in the centre of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The design studio rmic has crafted a visual identity, highlighting JAF Zalamander as the primary typeface, complemented by Oswald and Niveau Grotesk for other text elements. The slogan on the homepage (“gezelligheid kent geen tijd”) additionally uses Dancing Script.

Mencuri Raden Saleh (Stealing Raden Saleh) was released in 25th August 2022 in cinemas all over Indonesia. A movie from Visinema Pictures directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, produced by Cristian Imanuell, it tells a story about six youngsters who plan to steal the most historical painting in Indonesia. The painting, The Arrest of Prince Diponegoro (1857) by the well-known Indonesian painter Raden Saleh, hangs in the Presidential Palace.

During the first announcement for this movie project, Visinema released teaser poster for each main character and their role in the band of conspirators. Starring solid ensembles main cast: Angga Yunanda (Ucup), Iqbaal Ramadhan (Piko), Ari Irham (Tuktuk), Aghniny Haque (Sarah), Rachel Amanda (Fela), and Umay Shahab (Gofar), each of them has their own specialty and contributions for the heist plan: The Hacker, The Forger, The Driver, The Brute, The Negotiator, The Handyman, respectively.

Since the beginning of this movie announcement, it has been a byword. Because the famous cast that was involved, how well this movie was produced, and also how this movie was peculiarly promoted, it became a massive buzz. In all its promotional tools or visuals, this movie consistently used a custom design called MRS Type as the main typeface. It has a Saul Bass-esque style with firm but winding shapes, almost as seen on Bass’s well-known poster for Vertigo. The typeface was designed at Mufworks by Muhammad Faisal after the movie logo by Alvin Hariz. It is used alongside Brandbe, and Oswald for most of paragraphs, or as a secondary typeface.

For the teaser poster characters, MRS Type only appears as logo, paired with Brandbe as the main typeface and continuous for the rest of marketing content on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts. This was before the countdown for announcement date. After that, MRS Type dominates. It is even the only typeface appearing without Brandbe or Oswald at once, specifically for the big content such as the official trailer video, six official posters, character introduction videos, official character posters, official final trailer, and cast birthday.

Other than that, it was mixing between those three typefaces, not included some memes or related digital contents, that using way different fonts to fits or blend to its content purposed. It’s available on Netflix worldwide if you want to see the movie.

Movie Audiences Count on the Third Days of Launching on Cinemas

L’Obs, formerly known as Le Nouvel Observateur, is the French weekly news magazine with the widest reach. Founded in 1950, it covers all general fields of information, from domestic and international politics and economy to culture, literature and lifestyle.

As of 2022, their website uses Production Type’s Newsreader as its primary identity typeface. Commissioned by Google Fonts and released in 2021, Newsreader was designed by Hugues Gentile, with contributions by Jean-Baptiste Levée and others. It was conceived as a variable font especially suitable for continuous on-screen reading, making best use of optical sizes. In its static version the family breaks down to 42 styles.

The website of L’Obs uses Newsreader for headlines, lead-ins and quotes, in styles from the Text (16pt) and Display (72pt) sizes. Across the vast online presence of L’Obs including its various subbrands and spinoffs, Newspaper is paired with various other typefaces. In the images of the main site shown here, we get to see Jonny Pinhorn’s sans serif Karla and Vernon Adams’s narrow Oswald. The current logo was introduced already in 2014 and is a custom design by Serge Ricco.

QuikTrip makes use of Monthoers in headlines/callouts on their website – an effective choice for fun and engaging typography. The main text typeface used here is Oswald.
