A redesign of Johnston, made in 1979 by Eiichi Kono at
Banks & Miles for phototypesetting. New Johnston is a
full family, featuring Light, Medium and Bold weights with
corresponding Italics, Medium Condensed and Bold Condensed. Like
ITC
Johnston, it has a larger x-height than the original.
First appeared in London’s Underground stations in 1983.
