Lawrence Welk’s Most Requested TV Favorite (Champagne Style) is a 1975 album released on Ranwood Records. The cover was designed by Studio Five, with Jana being used for the artist name (or talk show host) and the album title. The song list is in Lydian.

According to Wikipedia, 101 Strings Orchestra “was the brand for a highly successful easy listening symphonic music organization, with a discography exceeding 150 albums”, selling “more than 50,000,000 records worldwide”. This album with easy listening interpretations of movie themes was released in 1972 by Alshire Records, an US budget label founded by Al Sherman.

The main typeface is Richard D. Juenger’s Jana, used mostly in all caps. “MOVIES” and the name of arranger and conductor Jack Dorsey are added in Optima. The informal script is Filmotype Korea. The 101 Strings logo is either custom calligraphy or based on an unidentified formal script.

Ronnie Kole Plays for (You Alone) is an album done by the eponymous Ronnie Kole (1931–2020) – a Chicagoan musician who moved to New Orleans and opened up his own club – and released in 1968 by Paula Records.

The main typeface is Richard D. Juenger’s Jana, contrasted with all-caps Venus Extended. Design by Mar-Ken Advertising Agency, with photography by Jerry Griffith.

Cadet Records, 1968

Jana (VGC, 1965) in use for the cover of Tell Mama by American singer Etta James (1938–2012). The album was first released in 1968 on the Cadet label by Chess Records in 1968. MCA would acquire the Chess masters in the mid-1980s and re-release it in 1987 (shown below), with an adaptation of the original design by Jerry Griffith featuring an illustration by Bill Utterback.

The hotel that made Virginia Beach famous

Jana and Univers, set in all caps on a curve, for a matchbook advertising the Cavalier Hotel.

Booklet with recipes and instructions issued in 1972 by the West Bend Company, a manufacturer of aluminum cookware and electrical appliances. The decorated Tuscan on the cover is Aldo Novarese’s Fontanesi. Originally issued by Nebiolo as foundry type in 1954, the design was adopted for phototypesetting, and is listed in the 1972 catalog by VGC. The “Laureleaf” logo is based on Jana, a VGC original designed by Richard D. Juenger.

Two VGC originals, Davida and Jana, both from 1965, used in all caps for a Christmas album by the Lennon Sisters. Originally issued by Dot Records in 1960, this is the cover of a reissue on Ranwood from 1968. Bookman Italic is used for “with The”, and Filmotype Ranger for the song names. The Ranwood logo uses Fantail.

Covers for various clip books of line art issued in 1970 by Harry Volk Jr. Art Studio, Pleasantville, New Jersey. The series provides a glimpse into the topics that were in demand by the press – and by the media in general – in the United States at the time. The covers paint a slightly more progressive image than those from a decade before, e.g. with a women in the driver’s seat (for “Transportation”, see below). The vast majority of the portrayed people still is white and male. The cover for “Communications” (above) with three protesting women is an exception.

The series is also a snapshot of what was in fashion in display typography. The chosen faces – almost each cover features a different one – are diverse in style. Many were issued only shortly before. There are several exclusive designs by the NYC-based typesetting studio Photo-Lettering (Hinge Computer, Brave and Free, Calendar, Microcircus, Benguiat Indian, Bauhaus Prisma, Bordonaro Black Magic, West Kangaroo) and also a few recent releases by VGC (Giorgio, Antikva Margaret).

“Travel” (No. 195). While the title is set in caps from Georg Trump’s City fett, rasterized and repeated at varying angles like stamps in a passport, the names of the destinations are hand-lettered. Some are probably based on existing faces, e.g. “Orient” appears to emulate Benguiat Newlock. “Greece” might be patterend after Copeland Trillium.

“Crowds” (No. 201) ft. Filmotype Vigus. The portrait format and the use of ITC Avant Garde Gothic Light as secondary typeface suggest that this was a late edition, already in the style used in subsequent years.

“Groups” (No. 526) ft. Calendar (1969).

“Transportation” (No. 527). Illustration by Tom Sawyer. The typeface is PLINC’s Microcircus, a squooshed variation of Microgramma/Eurostile.

“Insurance” (No. 529) again features Microcircus.

“Western” (No. 533) ft. a depiction of a Native American with feathered headdress. The type was apparently chosen for its name – it’s Benguiat Indian.

I initially thought the banner typeface was Rocklidge, but since Rocklidge was created in 2011, that couldn’t be it. I eventually found the font that inspired it, which was Jana. This is not a font I have seen on any other DEC literature.
