Issued by Conner in 1873 or before. Unlike the sample suggests, there is also a lowercase. A 1884 Palmer & Rey specimen additionally shows a Condensed Athenian. Reichardt mentions an Athenian Ornate. See also Athenian Extended.
The regular width was also carried by Schelter & Giesecke (as Athenienne breit, accompanied by an italic named Athenienne-Kursiv, both credited to “Conners [sic] 1860”) and by Stempel (as Skelett-Italienne, ca. 1880). AG f. Schriftgießerei had both widths, as Italienne mager, and Italienne schlank. [Seemann]
